Im new to the fandom what does o!ciel and r!ciel mean?
Hi, anon! Be warned that there are major spoilers below, so do not read past this point if you want to avoid those!
“O!Ciel” and “R!Ciel” are short for “Our!Ciel” and “Real!Ciel,” respectively. For much of Kuroshitsuji, Yana leads us to believe that the little earl with the eyepatch is Ciel Phantomhive...but it turns out that he’s actually impersonating his identical twin and older brother, who is the real Ciel. Needless to say, this creates quite a few problems for the young earl when R!Ciel returns! At this time, Yana hasn’t given us the younger twin’s name. However, since we’ve spent far more time storywise with the sad eyepatch boi than with R!Ciel, the fandom tends to refer to him as “our Ciel.” Unless Yana clears things up, we use the R!Ciel and O!Ciel labels to distinguish between the two. Things would get incredibly confusing if we merely referred to them both as “Ciel!” 😂
