please elaborate on this space pirate au please???
Okay, so, the setup. (Think like, Treasure Planet style massive galleons with antigrav machines flying through nebulae) The Starblaster is famed and feared everywhere, it’s crew being some of the most storied pirates in the galaxy. They’ve been a thorn in the side of the Galactic Navy for years, particularly for the captain of the Raven Queen’s prized flagship, Kravitz, who is under strict orders from his mother to apprehend these pirates as they go raiding government outposts all over the systems
Kravitz has come close to catching them so many times, close enough that he’s familiar with the whole crew (the IPRE). Particularly with the lithe, particularly handsome and playful elf Taako, who also happens to be the chef but that doesn’t sound as intimidating as ‘pirate’. Not that Kravitz would admit it in a million years, but he thinks about that guy a lot. Like, a lot a lot. They’ve crossed swords a few times. And…yeah, maybe there’s been a few times Kravitz could have snatched Taako and put him in handcuffs but the timing’s never felt quite right, okay?
This goes on for a while, until they think of each other less as deadly enemies and more as a weird kind of colleague? Like Taako will jump aboard to cut his way through the naval officers and re-steal their stolen cargo but he’ll also maybe slip into Kravitz’s cabin on the way and return the book he stole from there last time because he’s finished reading it and he’s left notes in the margins on the bits he liked best and he kinda wants to know Kravitz’s opinion? And maybe after one particularly close call, Taako accidentally loses a bracelet that clearly means a lot to him on the deck of Kravitz’s ship, only to find it waiting for him in the envelope with their latest arrest warrant?
However, one day, the Starblaster crew see Kravitz’s ship be attacked by another, far more ruthless group of pirates, ones more famed for slitting the throats of every navy crew they get their hands on. Taako of course isn’t having that and so the Starblaster swoops in to the rescue. Kravitz himself is on his flaming deck, with a horribly deep wound in his side and fading fast, pinned by at least twenty pirates, until he sees this gold blur and hears a loud shout of “abracadabra-fuck you”. When he comes to again, he’s in Taako’s own cabin with his wounds bandaged and a glass of water on the bedside table.
Now he’s actually aboard the Starblaster, Kravitz realises that pretty much all the loot they take, they pass on to struggling, impoverished communities on so many planets, ones that have been entirely neglected by the navy. And the more time he spends with Taako, who’s taken over his care from Merle for seemingly no reason, the closer they become. Until one night they find themselves kissing on the prow of the ship and things just kind of go from there. Lup finds the door locked on the cabin she and Taako share, she rolls her eyes and mutters something about it being about damn time and strolls off to sleep with Barry (the navigator).
A letter is sent to the Raven Queen back on her planet with a sincere apology and a hurried explanation, something about an elopement? And now all the stories the people tell are of the Starblaster and it’s fearsome, trickster pirates, two of whom also happen to be husbands.
