i love hand/wrist symbolism. when you extend your arm out you're so far from your heart yet your pulse is right there. so close yet so far. almost but not enough. kept at arms length. This sounds really niche but its not. its really not.

"Where the fuck is it?" Lily cursed loudly, followed by another thud.
After looking over at Neal to see him not bothered at all by the noise, Emma sighed. His obliviousness was admittedly somewhat adorable. "What are you looking for?" she called out.
Emma leaned back, hiding her smile as she watched Neal. His focus was entirely on the movie, The Outsiders, which he hadn't seen yet. It was one of Emma's favorite movies, and she'd watched it dozens of times before now, so she barely paid any mind to the movie.
Though, she wouldn't be able to watch the movie in peace regardless, due to the continuous thudding noises of Lily rummaging through the kitchen.

Her girlfriend huffed. "The bag of cheddar popcorn! I bought some last week, and now I can't find it.."
It'd taken a long time for the three of them to build enough trust each other, especially to even attempt the relationship they had now. Emma loved both of them dearly, they loved her, and each other, and it was good. What they had was good, and Emma wouldn't give it up for anything.
But admitting to eating Lily's food was the equivalent of confessing murder. Which was exactly what Emma—and Henry, to be entirely fair—had done last time her son had slept over. But Henry wasn't here to share blame.
"Huh. That's weird." Emma replied tightly. "Did you check behind the cereal boxes?"
She winced when Lily loudly stormed into the living room. Emma dared to look up at her, immediately meeting Lily's glare. "I have to be honest, I really doubt it's behind the fucking cereal, Emma." Lily hissed with narrowed eyes.
She gulped. Neal, finally noticing them, snickered next to her. "I really doubt it's in the pantry at all," he teased. Emma elbowed him.
After a tense silence, Lily relaxed, rolling her eyes. "You're lucky I love you," she grumbled, flopping down on the couch next to her. "or I'd be kicking your ass right now."
Emma wrapped an arm around her. "I'm sure you would," she giggled, pressing a kiss to the shorter girl's forehead.
In the opening scene in 4x20 the Sorcerer tells the Apprentice that Emma and Lily’s fates “remain intertwined, as they always were and always shall be.”
Which I think is a little weird, because why would Emma and Lily’s fates be intertwined in the first place? There’s not exactly much potential overlap between princess of a reclaimed kingdom and the daughter of a dragon several kingdoms over unless they’re potentially the next generation of a blood feud that has been going on for two generations already.
Because if Cora’s hatred for Eva led to Regina’s hatred for Snow, then it almost feels like destiny (that would have hypothetically sprung from meddling from Cora, again) that Regina’s daughter, Lily, would one day go up against Snow’s daughter Emma.
So I’m definitely going to need a Romeo and Juliet EF AU for Star Swan.
And that’s just my personal best argument for why it thematically would have worked for Lily to have been Regina’s daughter. Aside from, you know, looking exactly like her.
Ooh, and Star Swan (Lily x Emma) too for the ship bingo
A great ship! I do prefer them when they're young because young Lily is blatantly gay for Emma and will not cease the heart eyes. Amazing! Adorable! I just cannot read their interactions in any other way than romantic. No one looks at their friend like that. No one. The scene where Emma almost shoots Lily is so intense! Definitely a case of a messy break up. I wish we got more development with adult Emma and Lily. They had potential but adult Lily seems so diferent than young Lily (who I preferred). Still, the history was there, they were practically fated to be together and I would have been totally onboard if they'd gone in that direction. I wanted to see more of Lily!
