This is one of those art pieces that probably doesn’t quite line up with what was written. But oh well.

- All good questions! The reason why it made sense to me is I can see Kris having some kind of motivation towards wanting to create fountains...although it is still possible there’s way more than just that involved, considering the fact that 1) they do seem to keep a good deal of control without the soul, and 2) they are still allowing fountains to be closed. There’s lots of different directions to speculate in!

- I think mostly he already knew what he was doing...I was just trying my best to read his hints!

- Pretty cool, although yeah, that particular detail always felt pretty natural to me! :D

I gotta say most fan works try to use genocide routes to make up for the lack of “high stakes” in the pacifist route. Like most fanworks portray nearly getting murdered in pacifist routes as a walk in the park for whatever reason.

Where Inverted Fate differs is that it acknowledges the high stakes of an underground that wants to kill you and uses it to create massively tense situations. Death isn’t fun, the world around you wants you dead, and you’re dealing with your own baggage. Honestly, that’s what drew me to inverted fate. It’s real good at making a believable and high stake pacifist route that is more than a leisurely stroll.

Yeah, that’s something really important to me. So many people act like Pacifist or Neutral don’t have enough stakes or that “pacifist is too easy.” With IF, I wanted to show that you can have a similar level of fanfare and spectacle as what people like to envision the genocide run to be, but... within the framework of a story that doesn’t require that level of angst to make it work.

Not to say IF doesn’t have angst. :P It absolutely does- but I try to make it angst with substance and mix it with genuine fun and heart rather than edgy mc edgelord levels of darkness. (Disclaimer: If you like dark and edgy content, that’s totally fair! There’s something for everyone in the fandom and I don’t wanna attack specific fanworks here).

Whew finally realized there's a place to go for out of character asks (from coolskeleton59). Thanks author. Absolutely horrifying concept that the only reason this THING didn't get worse for the entire population was because it took over Papyrus from the getgo and began to feel normal emotions. Thanks this will keep me awake at night This entire series has been so viscerally uncomfortable by being so subtly wrong. I love it. It's absolutely genius how you manage to just completely unsettle through tone changes and minor alterations of pixels in a talksprite.
