Thinking About It
“Ever think about getting married?”
Peter stares. It’s been a year and of course he has, he just didn’t think Rafael had. A year is when you start thinking about these things, but you don’t say it.
At least, Rafael doesn’t seem the type who would.
The fact that they’re even together seems like some sort of miracle, their first few months feeling like problem after problem to solve, far from a fairytale romance.
It hadn’t been smooth sailing for either of them, but Rafael made everything better.
And once everything had settled, once they’d settled, it all just seemed right. Nothing was the same as it had been, but some changes were for the better, and having Rafael by his side was one of the things he never thought he’d be lucky enough to have.
Peter tried never to take him for granted, but he was also never sure that Rafael would stay.
He knows that Rafael loves him, but forever is a long time. A lot longer than the year that they’ve had.
But yes. Yes, he has thought about it, imagined it and hoped for it. He just didn’t think it could be true.
He takes a breath. “Yeah. I have.”
