ok. this might be out there. i dont really ship it, but i think starscream and arcee could have worked something out if she could have topped him. like, arcee brat taming starscream is.... she wants to see him cry but its so much more *satisfying* to see him cry while riding her spike than it would have been to make him cry by hurting him.

see, that's the great thing about fanon. you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

and i agree, arcee brat taming starscream would work so well! like yeah, it would be cathartic to give him a thrashing of a lifetime, but, consider... making him cry while making him ride her spike, doing all the work while she just sits back and relaxes.
