Actually since back when I used to play Gamecube Animal Crossing I've always thought it was kinda funny how everything seemed 'old-tech' in the Animal Crossing world... As I've gotten older I've come to understand all the Japanese culture elements in the game, including the fact that villages in Animal Crossing are effectively based on rural Japan.
So for a while now I've had a headcanon that AC is actually just based in Japan (maybe an alt. Universe Japan with animals haha), so the idea that some characters (like Genji) would do the long multi-train journey to Tokyo for an event like Comiket is TOTALLY PERFECT to me!
