Hades!Meg for Starkinhighgarden
Sorry about the long post as I am on my iPod and can't do the read more thingy. Anyway Starkinhighgarden wanted this sort of thing because of the Hades!Meg post. (The one before this one on my blog, once again I can't link it cause I'm on my iPod argggh) Don't get too hung up on any mistakes in Mythology please I wrote this in half an hour. Anyway enjoy! Killing a God was no small thing, both of them knew that. Killing the God of the underworld in the underworld should not have even been possible. Yet here they stood looking over the souls of the dead as they clawed at Hades and dragged him to the depths that he almost sent Megara to herself. It had been in a moment of blinding anger, as he stepped out of the pool holding her limp, almost, lifeless body, shining with the power he was born with, that he struck the God down. His sword was near invisible as it removed Hades' head from his shoulders, swinging in an arc while Meg was held securely in his other hand. Why the Fates decided to cut Hades' lifeline or even how they did it, for Gods were supposed to be immortal, remained a secret. When asked they would giggle amongst themselves and mutter about, "New management," but they would not reveal their reasons nor their ways. Megara supposed it was for the best. If the Gods were found to be mortal, in even one way, the humans would likely lose faith entirely. Zeus raged when he discovered the death of his brother, even his least loved brother was still a God and the principle was there. The humans prayed for the storms to stop at every temple and sacrificed their greatest beasts to appease their furious God. Their sacrifices could not help, only time could. His fiery anger burned out and was replaced with a cold fury that caused even Hercules to shrink back. He ordered the death of the Fates on account of their murder of a God. But who can control Fate but Destiny, even Gods do not hold power over time itself. Who would cut the lifelines of those who control the cycle of life and death? An angry man is a vengeful man and Gods are no different contrary to their beliefs. And Zeus had the power to be the most vengeful being in all eternity, even against his son. Yet he could not land the blow. He had just regained a son, one lost for many years, how could he cast him out again? Instead he turned to her, standing silently at the side waiting to hear judgement on Hercules. She would not forget his cunning smile in all her years as he decided on Hercules' punishment. On her punishment. She supposed, as she lay in her /wonderful/ new home, that all accusations levelled towards her were true. She had sold herself to Hades and spent more time in the underworld than any living mortal ought to. Even Persephone was only there for 6 months due to her stupid love of pomegranates. And she had seduced Hercules for Hades, causing this whole mess. So when, in his thundering voice, Zeus had condemned her to be Queen of the Underworld for the rest of eternity, well she couldn't actually argue with the Top God, much less the Fates and Destiny who had whispered the idea in his ear. Hercules had tried but his father would not be moved. Below Olympus the mortals were spun a tale of two lovers who fought Death itself only to be kept apart by the fury of Zeus. Hades never died, he was only banished to a deeper pit of anguish to await those whose souls were truly evil. Megara would be sure to inform him of his duties next time she saw him. And so she was condemned to the Underworld, a cautionary tale to those who would stray to far into Godly business, a woman to be pitied for eternity as she managed the souls of the dead. It could be worse, she thought, she could be stuck with Seaweed Brains Poseidon and his gaggle of girls. And Charon the Ferryman of the Dead had an unsurprisingly dry sense of humour that came with his job. Plus she pulled off flaming blue hair pretty well, all things considered.
