20. Your favourite land in UT and why: (Snowdin, Waterfall or Hotland)
Waterfall, definitely. I really love the music and the visuals, and after the happy cuteness of Snowdin that’s when it really hits you that these people have been trapped underground for centuries and are desperate. The people are still friendly but unlike Snowdin’s gung-ho royal guard dogs or Hotland’s constant Mettaton encounters they’re not trying to capture you, just going about their lives. Also, Waterfall has my favorite “date,” Undyne’s cooking lesson, and my second-favorite stupid Sans prank (the telescope) and a lot of really fun phone calls with Papyrus and Undyne.
23. Your headcanon about one of the UT characters:
I couldn’t pick one character so, as per the advice of the Soriel discord, I found myself a group picture of Undertale characters, closed my eyes, and pointed at random.
I got the snobby Snowdin deer who shittalks Lesser Dog. So, you know, hope you’re happy with that! (If someone else asks I’ll pick another one though.)
SO ANYWAY, I don’t have a ton of specific ideas about Snobby Snowdin Deer because they’re not in the game a whole lot and kind of a jerk, but I figure there must be at least a small population of boss monsters other than Toriel and Asgore, and my headcanon is that not all of them are goat/lion-type things but they are all more or less the remnants of the old monster aristocracy, and you don’t see any of them because they’re pretty much all in the city that you just get a glimpse of on the way to New Home. So I think she’s probably distantly related to a family of deerlike boss monsters and figures that makes her and her mean opinions, like, super important. Or maybe she’s still a teenager and her family used to live in the capital, but they moved out to the boonies so she’s still salty about that. But not salty enough to melt the snow.
24. Butterscouch or cinnamon pie?
I’ve only ever had butterscotch-cinnamon pie, with both of them, but the butterscotch was unexpectedly delicious so I’m going to go with that.
29. Your favourite UT au:
Well, this is probably obvious but I’m really fond of history-based AUs! I really like historical costume and fashion, and trying to find ways of giving the characters similar backstory within the confines of it being set in a specific era. But in terms of the sorts of AUs where things are still more or less set in the Underground or equivalent, I’m fond of Storyshift, where various roles have been swapped but the characters’ personalities are more or less the same, so Asriel and Chara are Snowdin’s wacky sentries, Toriel’s a very maternal captain of the Royal Guard, Asgore’s the Royal Scientist who’s just trying to make people happy, etc.
