23 + 24!
23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t
I really wanted to write a sequel to my OUAT Captain Swan fic One and Done about Killian eventually becoming a youth basketball coach as he falls in love with Emma and befriend Henry, but my muse for Captain Swan died this year, so did this fic. Sorry @distant-rose :(
24. favorite fic you read this year
My favorite fic I read this year was easily Break the Walls; or, a Tree Is Best Measured When It Is Down by @ellidfics, which is an MCU fic that’s a divergence from the first Avengers movie. I absolutely love the blend of of the ‘historic’ documents and various interviews from that universe combined with how it also pulls from the Marvel 616 in way that prefer to what the MCU did.
Summary: Six months after the Battle of New York, Steve and Tony have settled into an uneasy friendship; they like each other and willingly fight at each other's side, but Tony is still determined to go his own way and Steve is still determined to slot him into the team. The tension reaches a breaking point as they deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Steve's new life in the 21st century, and Tony's efforts to prove himself without the suit. It's not the life Steve thought he would have, but it's what he has and he's making the best of it. And then he realizes he’s being followed by an enemy whose goal is nothing less than replacing him as Captain America....

Happy Holidays to one of my favourite humans, @starlessness!
So here’s the thing. Your writing is what helped me find you and those first few fics of yours that I read-- that made my heart skip and my breath catch because your words were just that unique and clever and just stunning-- those fics are special to me and what I think of when I think of your work first. So, I thought I’d make you a couple of little, kind of book covers for them. Because, one day I will have a book in my hand that you’ve written and it will be everything.
Love you friend <3

this is an incredibly lovely and realistic portrayal of motherhood. i appreciate ur bravery in sharing such intimate details like this. i wish more ppl did in all kinds of portrayals of pregnancy and motherhood. xo
@starlessness thank you so much. I suspect that those of us who have raised kids are less likely to want to write about it in babyfic, maybe? I know I personally have avoided it in the past. I certainly didn’t expect that putting this stuff down on paper would affect me as deeply as it did.
I blame Colin and his stupid, tender singing -- it just opened up an artery in me.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Yeah, especially since most of the reasons I unfollowed people were indicative of greater issues. There are a few people I unfollowed before I got xKit and then ended up following again.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
It would take an act from a higher power to get me to unhate the pairings I actively despise. That said, there are many pairings outside of CS I hadn’t considered. I’ve become somewhat of a multishipper for Belle (Belle and Ruby, Belle and Will) for example.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
The unwillingness of people to give new people a chance. We’re welcoming as a community, I suppose, but when I first joined the fandom it was very difficult to establish myself as a writer. I’ve watched many talented creators fall out of love with the fandom, because no one would give their work a chance since they weren’t popular. I think the majority (if not all) of the popular members of our fandom have earned it, through hard work and their kind hearts, but part of me wants the hard work and kindness of the underdog to be recognized as well.
