Hi!! Do you have any thoughts on the weddings scene clip released last night? I was kinda irritated at how much screen time Katniss got, but then again it is her movie!

hey sweetie! oy vey, are you sure you want me to talk about THE CLIP? I’m so in love with the odesta shots, with the vows, with the acting. But I was definitely thrown off about how they KEPT showing Katniss’ face.
Like, we get it, it’s her movie. But the story isn’t Katniss centric, she was a piece in the whole story. An important piece? of course, but not the 100% of it. And the books make it look like it because of the FPOV that, as I’ve already said, compromised a lot of details about the situation and the universe in general that Katniss as character was completely ignorant about. I feel like Francis tried to kept the feel of that fpov in the movies, which is not necessarily a bad thing but the one thing that really stood up from Catching Fire, for example, is that we got to see things that explained a lot about the situation. The conversations between Snow and Plutarch, when he burns the indications for the Quell and changes it with one that followed his plans ( in the deleted scenes ).
The odesta wedding was a big thing, not just for our magical precious oceanic babies, but to everyone in Thirteen and taking part in the rebellion. And while I don’t think it would have been a good idea for the film to have a full odesta scene with no participation of other characters, I do think it was a great opportunity to show more about other characters. We didn’t need so many long shots of Katniss’ staring face. It almost felt awkward to look at when we could’ve got more than 0.02 seconds of other characters.
Sam and his dimples and his pornographic voice were flawless as usual though and made it all worth it.
