Ok! Finally done with this part, took me longer than I hoped ^^'
The story I want to focus on takes place after the events of the game, but I thought it'd be fun to show Frisk and Starlite going through the underground together c:
If anyone's curious, I'll share more info about their journey below!
Firstly, Starlite would take place of Papyrus' battle (Im sure you can guess which role Papyrus would have ;) ). They would battle right after the events of the last part. I have an idea for how the battle would go, I may draw it out eventually, so I won't share anything about it for now.
For the rest of the journey Starlite would travel with Frisk and the two would grow to be friends.
During the Undyne chase, Undyne would try to avoid hitting Starlite, while still trying to get Frisk. Starlite would try to talk Undyne out of going after Frisk but they wouldn't be enough themselves to talk her out of it. Frisk's acting and sparing would be the final blows (like in the game!) Starlite and Frisk both agree to give Undyne some water at the end, too.
Now might be a good time to mention this would be a neutral timeline with Frisk choosing mercy over fighting.
I think Mettaton wouldn't want Starlite participating in the quiz or any of the puzzles & broadcasts, but they'd still do what they could to help Frisk out, such as whispering what they think the answers were (they got many wrong). Alphys should be present for the quiz too, I'll be honest I forgot to draw her and dont really feel like going back to add her.
Frisk kept a spider donut from the ruins so they get out of the fight early. Maybe the three of them enjoy some teatime together instead.
Starlite cheers from the crowd for Frisk during the Mettaton EX fight.
Asgore keeps Starlite out of the battle by closing them off with fire. Maybe Starlite threatens to attack if he keeps fighting Frisk, but being a monster themselves and being more used to Asgore being a gentle and kind ruler, they'd have trouble actually carrying out said threat. I dont want Asgore to die but I'm not fully sure how it'd be prevented.
And then Frisk and Starlite would battle and spare Flowey together.
Afterwards? Well I'll show that in the next part of the comic.
Fun fact! Aside from Frisk and Starlite, I had to come up with the other designs as I worked on this part, and aside from Mettaton EX (who was giving me too much trouble), I didn't make any reference sheets.. I do want to make reference sheets for them though. Whenever I do that, I'll probably post them and explain the reasons for their designs cause I have fun with them and would love to share the thoughts behind them! Even Frisk, Starlite, and Papyrus.
Felt like playing around with Starlite, messed with the colors a slight bit and wanted to try giving them a star pupil. Leaning more towards keeping these changes, but we'll see.
✨️ * Starlite waves a friendly hello, offering you a comfy spot on their picnic blanket. Want to stick around?
Hello, I'm @moooclipse! I'm new to undertale and couldn't resist the urge to create my own au! I'll be working on this as a personal project, but maybe others can find it interesting too. My hope is to make a comic for it, but I'm also not opposed to answering any questions.
Alright! So I've got the "references" for all the characters I have designs for so far. And I realized there's some info about Starlite's design that I can't share at the moment due to it being spoilers, so those will have to be shared for later.
This will probably get long so I'll just put the read more here now.. ^^'
So, Starlite! They were actually technically the fourth design I worked on, though the second (maybe third?) solidified design. I guess I'll go from head to toe!
Except we have to skip the first detail, their halo, because that would give spoilers. Well, no worries, we can move onto the eyes! The left eye I wanted to resemble a trail from a shooting star, and the right eye has a star pupil cause I wanted to add it. For no real reason honestly, although maybe I could pretend I wanted it to be the shooting star that the trail was coming from.
The fluff around the neck and waist came from the idea of it resembling the clouds that make up nebulas!
The star locket has to also be skipped due to spoilers, sadly. As well as the telescope.. and book. Though I promise those are all the details that are spoiler related! So we're safe from here on out!
The pink and purple clouds are also meant to resemble nebulas. The previously mentioned fluff is resembling it more in shape, while the pink and purple resemble it in shape and colors of some.
And the big stars and stripes on the pants are meant to look like shooting stars from the side, the star and its trail.
I cant remember if the scarf was meant to be a shooting star too or not, but probably. A star at the end of a long scarf that could be the trail.
Shooting stars were definitely a big part of the design inspo!
Next is Frisk! The first design I made actually, which is probably pretty apparent when standing next to the other designs. I feel like theirs doesnt deviate much from Undertale Frisk. I used my own drawing of Undertale Frisk as a base for SLT!Frisk.
Cloaks/capes and anything resembling them are my weak spot for designs, I love them so much! So I couldn't resist giving Frisk one... that's really the reason they have it. Though I decided to keep the color of their sweater and use it here, changing the stripes to a star instead.
The sweater underneath is an off white since I thought using the blue and magenta again would be too repetitive, and white felt neutral and good.
The bow on the back, or more specifically the dangling ends of the bow, were meant to be shooting star trails.
I've been having a problem with remembering to include the star freckles, so I'm unsure if I wanna keep them or not. I like them, but with me forgetting them half the time and Starlite having star freckles too, it feels repetitive. So we'll see..
Papyrus! In this au he's actually managed to make it into the royal guard, and is Starlite's older brother.
I liked the idea of him being stealthy, so I tried to use darker colors to help him blend into darker places better. Plus, it gives him more of a night theme! I couldn't bring myself to get rid of his red scarf though.
He's got moon markings on his face for the moon theme, and to match a bit with Starlite. Star freckles would be too repetitive, so he gets his own unique markings!
The moon and two stars are meant to be him, the moon, and Starlite and Frisk, the stars.
The pants going from a dark turquoise to a lighter one is like a gradient in the night sky. I could've done an actual gradient but I went with the bumps to match Starlite's clouds..
The stars on the boots are buckles, though it would probably make more sense on the side but idc.
Muffet's turn!
I actually based most of her colors on the brazilian Pink bloom tarantula. As far as Im aware, it doesnt have any connection to space, but I thought the colors fit and were pretty.
She's got star decorations in her hair instead of the bows since I thought it fit better with the space aesthetic of the au.
I wanted to give her an apron because of the bake sale, and added a moon to decorate it some.
Mettaton, he gave me some trouble. Not so much with the shape and details of the design, but the colors... Or specifically the placement of the colors. Somehow, I still had a lot of fun with his design!
I got inspired by Eve from Wall-e and wanted to give him a sleek, futuristic robot body. Its why I opted to use white more than black.
Originally I think I wanted to go with a ringed planet theme, which is why he's got a halo. Obviously, I didn't go through with that idea but I wanted to keep the halo.
His hair is in the shape of a star, and the bangs are meant to vaguely look like another shooting star trail. Im realizing I like to include shooting stars a lot, huh? ^^'
The speaker I changed to be star shaped, and its covered in the wire/mesh covering that speakers have. That and the digital dial fealt more futuristic that the holes for Undertale Mettaton's speaker and clunky dial. I debated even adding them at all, since without them it felt more plain/simple and futuristic. But at the same time, it didn't feel like Mettaton without them. So this was my compromise!
I was thinking that similarly to Eve's cubby for the plant in Wall-e, the heart could serve the same function. If Mettaton were able to obtain the human's soul, he could secure and carry it in the cubby where the heart is.
The bustle belt skirt, I believe that's what its called or at least that's what came up when I looked it up, is another star trail. And the bow is meant to help with the transition area, since it looked blank otherwise.
The orange, four pointed stars could serve as energy storage. Perhaps as each on its used up, it changes color to white, and when it's fully white its out of power. Each battery could be used one at a time, and as each battery emptied, the limb it was attached to could lose power.
His face would be a digital screen, and while I didn't draw a mouth (I couldn't figure out how to draw it without it looking off), maybe when it talks it appears.
Asgore is another design I had fun with.
I wanted to go with a sun theme, but I felt like if I plastered suns everywhere it'd get cluttered quick. So he's also got stars in his design to. Though at this point everyone has at least one star in their design, and the sun is technically a star too.
Anyways! His crown is made of floating stars, which I got the idea from the crown/halo that Scott smajor is drawn with quite often.
I wanted to keep the Delta Rune symbol, but I decided to add sun rays behind it in a different color. So it can look like a sun, or the Delta Rune symbol.
His cape is jagged on the edges to also look like sun flares.
Instead of the flower on his trident, I changed it to a sun. And gave him more sun flares at the other end of the trident.
Ok so I didn't make a reference sheet for Omega Flowey cause I thought the drawing I did for him in the comic worked well as is.
Asgore has a sun theme, I haven't made a design for Toriel yet but I had the idea to give her a moon theme. So where did that put Asriel? An eclipse? No, an aurora borealis obviously. It makes sense to me, they're seen at night and caused by solar activity.
So with that in mind, the tubes are supposed to be containing auroras in them. Makes sense? Probably not but I think it looks pretty.
Since Mettaton got an upgrade in technology, I also decided to give omega flowey a more modern screen.
While I'm not fully settled on a final design for regular Flowey, I did like the idea of him having stamen to resemble goat horns. So his omega flowey form gets to keep them too. The aurora tubes are also shaped more pointedly for the same reason of resembling his regular Flowey form. Its mostly regular Flowey's colors that Im not fully sure on, btw.
I tried to change the jaw to look like a goat jaw, dont think I need to explain why.
The cactus vine thing behind him has half of a four pointed star for the thorns. And his arms are leaves with tears in them for three different fingers(?)
Well, I think that's most of the thoughts I had behind their designs. I think its clear which one of them is the favorite child.. hehe ^^'
Ive been having to come up with new designs since I realized a lot of the characters I wanted to include in this next bit, I didn't actually figure out what they'd look like in this au.. ^^'
Im excited to finish this part though, and Im having fun with these designs!
Im slowly working on the next part of the comic, which Im hoping to have 7 scenes, and probably spread through 3 pages. Just to be on the safe side, expect it later rather than sooner ^^'
In the meantime, if anyone has any questions about Starlite, Frisk, or Papyrus, I'll do my best to answer them!
