Starmora Week 2018 Rec List

I’m finally here to recommend my favorites from this year’s Starmora Week! There were so many wonderful fanworks posted for this lovely pairing, it took me a long time to pick my faves:

+ Don’t Anyone Wake Me by Wawa_Girl Post Vol. 2; Gamora helps Peter deal with the realization of how his mother died. I LOVE this so much because it works on so many levels, and delivers on Starmora h/c, character development for both Gamora and Peter, and does a fantastic job making Meredith Quill a well-rounded, fully realized character. There’s a strong theme of ‘family’ throughout this story and I really appreciate Meredith getting the love and attention she deserves. One of my favorite GotG fics. + feel the heat with somebody who loves me by nymphrea Post Endgame; Gamora and Peter go skating. This fic is absolutely adorable and a perfect pick-me-up after Infinity War. It’s soft and intimate and the banter between them is on point. It’s vibrant and energetic, the word choice is stunning and gives the story a lyrical quality that fits amazingly with the GotG vibe. I especially love how Gamora reacts when Peter teaches her how to skate - she’s so wonderfully in character here.

+ In The Summertime (When The Weather Is Hot) by RocketRaccoon15 Post Vol. 2; Gamora and Peter go to the beach. This has such an upbeat, warm, happy vibe that I couldn’t stop grinning as I read it. It’s very romantic and I love the song choice in here! What I especially love about this is it provides a look into how Gamora and Peter get some R&R and time just for themselves, during which they’re not the leaders of the Guardians, but they’re regular people who just want to have fun with each other. And much fun is had in here! + Love Story by Peril_in_Peace Post GotG and Vol. 2, rated M; AU in which Gamora and Peter get together before Vol. 2 and navigate their feelings and ‘relationship.’ This is a phenomenal exploration into their dynamic that I hadn’t considered, but makes complete sense. Their relationship is angsty, messy, intense and hot as hell, and I love every word of this. There’s a raw honesty to this fic that I truly appreciate. The characterization and dialogue is all on point, down to Peter’s mannerisms. Highly recommended!

+ May I have this dance? by sharkinterviewee Post Vol. 2; Gamora and Peter go on an undercover mission involving formalwear, ballroom dancing, and jealousy. This one nails all those aspects and then some! It’s sweet and has wonderful h/c, which I’m always down for, but the setting and theme - along with Gamora’s characterization - takes the emotions to a higher level. I adore the exploration into Gamora’s insecurity, and that Peter shows her why he enjoys dancing with her, more than anyone.

+ pray every lonely night that soon they’ll guide me home by philthestone Deep dive exploration into Gamora and Peter’s relationship between Vol. 2 and IW. This one’s gorgeous, hilarious, and so warm and comforting. It’s exactly what I needed after IW, not only because of the peaceful, loving vibe - it does such a wonderful job exploring Gamora’s development and outlook on love and family throughout the years she’s with the Guardians, and the details in this are incorporated so well. Keep a lookout for Iconic Handholding!

+ and shivers down your spine by lettersfromnowhere Post Vol. 2; Peter shares the tradition of Halloween with the Guardians. This is so warm, fun, and laugh-out-loud funny that I’ve read it several times to cheer me up when I’m feeling down. It features domestic, parental Gamora and Peter and Guardians-as-family shenanigans. I also love the insight into Peter’s childhood when he recounts how he’d spent Halloween on Earth, and the Guardians’ reactions to hearing about the traditions are all wonderfully in character. + Pulse by jellybeanforest Post Vol. 2, Rated E; One mishap leads to another and suddenly, the Guardians are adrift in space on the Milano, with non-functioning translators and cybernetics. There’s so much I want to say about this fic because I LOVE it so much. It’s intense, angsty, hilarious at times (Teen Groot has some of the best lines), heartbreaking, and then heartwarming at the end. It’s an excellent family fic that explores all the interrelationships; Gamora’s and Peter’s arc is A++++ 

+ Stargazing by Doctor_Anthony Post Vol. 2; Peter has a nightmare about Ego winning, and tells Gamora. I love the quiet tone throughout this, how it shows that Peter is still dealing with the horrific revelations on Ego. This also does a great job on showing Gamora’s empathy and that she cares very much about Peter. I was hit by a ton of emotions while reading this, and the ending, involving Baby Groot, is so heartwarming that it left me with such a peaceful feeling.  + Starmora Drabble by @gamora-borealis Pos Vol. 2; After Yondu’s funeral, Gamora and Peter have a heart-to-heart. I love how this is both sweet and solemn at the same time. It doesn’t shy away from the traumatic events they’d just experienced - and the introspection into Gamora’s thoughts about the future aren’t brushed aside, which I appreciate - but there’s still such a strong sense of hope and perseverance, especially relating to Gamora’s love for Peter, and his love for her. Starmora Week 2018 Day 6: Wedding

Summary: “I'm guessing it's not normal to destroy wedding clothes on earth then after all.” Something short and sweet and fun- super fluffy.

Wedding Night ______________

It was their wedding.

Wedding night, actually.

They were actually married now. He couldn't believe they did it.

Peter didn't think it would feel any different than when they were in a romantic relationship and living together the past three years, kicking names and taking ass, saving the galaxy while not being officially married.

But he was wrong. This was so much better.

“You’re my wife,” he murmured into their kiss, backing her up closer to their bed. They kinda hadn't taken their hands off of each other since they got back to their room (hadn't stopped kissing either).

“You keep saying that,” Gamora smiled against his lips. She didn't know if she'd ever found anything more endearing than his whispered repetitions between every kiss.

In the span of two seconds she had reversed their positions, backing him up until his legs hit the bed, before giving him a single, one handed push to the chest that had him falling backwards and landing with an “oof”.

Leaving him looking up at her in the dimmed lights of their bedroom, silhouetted with a soft glow, making her look like a deity,

That he'd worship any day of the week.

She was a truly imposing figure.

The tilted, layered skirt had traditional designs and patterns from her homeworld, and the cream wrap that hung at her hips and circled around her torso was also Zehoberi styled- and the sleeves of her shirt with the loose, spilling cuffs made every movement of her hands look fluid and by design.

One second he was standing, the next he was on his back with Gamora, the last of the Zehoberi standing over him.

The most dangerous woman in the galaxy.

One second he was standing, and the next he was on his back, with his wife standing over him, illuminated with an ethereal silhouette that made her look so, so beautiful (not that she needed any help with that).

Gamora climbed on top of him, and Peter reached out to her, dragging her back to him. He pulled her in for a kiss that she went with, indulgently, cause they had all the time in the world.

Gamora ran her hands up his chest and deepened the kiss. Which was so, so good.

Peter’s hands gravitated towards her hips and he kissed along her jaw, down her throat, sucking and nipping here and there, making her hum as hands moved to the collar of his shirt.

Then, without warning, she just ripped his shirt. Completely, ripped it wide open.

“Woah, woah, woah!” He shouted in surprise. “What the hell are you doing?!”

Gamora gave him a look. “It’s our wedding night, Peter. I thought we were having sex.”

“So did I! What part of having sex involves destroying my very nice shirt?”

Gamora's eyes flashed with instant clarity. “Ah. I wondered why you insisted on buying such expensive clothes for yourself,” she said, like he had just settled something she’d long been curious about, but he still had no idea what she was talking about.

“What?”

“I'm guessing it's not normal to destroy wedding clothes on earth then after all.”

“Not that I know of, no,” Peter responded, still processing exactly what that meant.

“I thought that was a fairly universal thing to do. You know, standard,” Gamora shrugged like she didn't just ruin a very expensive, quality shirt that he was planning on keeping for next time they infiltrated a classy event on a mission or got invited to a swanky affair after saving the galaxy yet again (okay, they hadn't gotten a thanks for saving the world celebration yet, but here's hoping).

“And what exactly is that standard?” He asked, since she apparently didn't feel the need to elaborate on that.

“You’re supposed to rip my clothes off. I'm supposed to rip off yours.” ____________

“So does that mean you don't want me to rip the rest of your clothes off?” Gamora asked, actually sounding disappointed. Apparently she had been really looking forward to that part of the ceremony. Ripping his clothes off. He had to admit, it sounded pretty hot.

“Well, you already destroyed the most expensive part of my outfit, so might as well,” Peter shrugged, and Gamora’s face positively lit up.

“Wait, are you wearing underwear?” She added like that was an afterthought.

“Are you not!?!” Peter replied with just about the most incredulous face he had.

“Of course not! Because you're supposed to rip everything I'm wearing off my body!” Gamora laughed because yes, this was the man she chose to marry. This was her husband. She shook her head as she buried her face in her hands, still laughing.

“Really, Peter. Being Terran is no excuse for not having heard of the most common wedding thing in the galaxy,” she said, even though he was pretty sure she was exaggerating (She learned that from him).

“Well, I've heard of it,” he muttered defensively. He's heard of lots of wedding traditions around the galaxy. Like matching facial tattoos. Or ritual combat. He's sure he's heard of the clothes ripping thing along with the long list of weird wedding traditions to be found around the galaxy. “I just didn't know we were doing it,” he pouted quite petulantly. Gamora thought he looked incredibly adorable at the moment.

“Sure,” she teased, rolling her eyes. He apparently took offense at her light ribbing, though.

“I barely even know any wedding traditions from earth! All I have is the ring thing and a half remembered rhyme or two! This has nothing to do with me being from Terra! I left when I was 8, and my mom never got married, so it's not like I heard a lot of stories or whatever. The wedding tradition thing has nothing to with being Terran. You said it yourself. I've been in the galaxy a long time. Most of my life. I'm a nomad, Gamora! You have to tell me what traditions we’re doing, cause I don't have any. I’m not from any place that has any tradition, cause I’m not from any place.” ____________

“You’re at least happy you get to rip mine off, aren’t you?” Gamora asked, reminding him of that part of the deal. Which yeah. He wasn't really thinking about that. And now that he was picturing literally ripping her clothes off with his bare hands, well, his mouth went a little dry.

Peter's whole face went blank for a second, and she almost wonders if she broke him.

Peter blinked, staring at her like he was staring off into space.

“Yeah,” he croaked, licking his lips.

When he met her eye, she could see by the desire in his that she had reminded him of where they were before they got off track.

Before she could suggest getting them back on track, Peter threw his head back and let out a petulant and vacillating whine that emanated from the back of his throat.

“Aw, but you look so pretty in them!” Peter proclaimed in near distress at destroying what she was now wearing so well.

It was almost too cute for her to handle.

Gamora rolled her eyes with an unbridled fondness.

“Yes, and I got them specifically so you could tear them off my body tonight and only tonight. That's what wedding outfits are for. To be married in and then ravished in. For the first time in your life, I think you're not focusing on the sex enough in this situation,” she almost giggled into her hand, and god, she wore happiness well.

He was so in love with her it was ridiculous. It was ridiculous that he actually got to spend the rest of his life with this woman. ____________

Gamora helped him out of the shirt she ruined by ripping it some more, then finally tearing it off of him, which she obviously enjoyed far too much. Or just the right amount.

Peter growled and flipped them over, so that he had her lying under him. Gamora gave him the most inviting smile as she wrapped her hands around the back of his neck.

“You know, I was looking forward to this,” she said, shimmying underneath him as his hands traveled down her very pretty clothes. Appreciating them before he ruined them.

“Yeah?” He asked, fiddling with the waistband of her skirt. Getting a feel for it, exactly how much force he’d need to…

Gamora smiled up at him.

“Yeah.”

Starmora week Day 2: Dance

I forgot to post this yesterday but hopefully it still counts. I did finish it yesterday, I promise.

I kinda hate this but it's something. I really hate how this turned out, the only good thing about this is probably that I figured out how I'm gonna draw the eyes. But maybe it's ok, I might just be going to hard on myself.

I Saw A Shooting Star (And I Thought Of You)

(Starmora Week 2018 - Day 3: Night Confessions/Stargazing)

Title is from “All of the Stars” by Ed Sheeran! Enjoy!!

Summary: After a stressful mission, Peter and Gamora take a walk.

The mission doesn't go as planned. Rocket almost gets set on fire, Mantis almost gets shot, and Drax...well, Drax almost gets himself killed by taking on more criminals than he could handle. So, yeah. It was stressful.

However, stressful in his eyes is also a good thing. It usually meant going on long walks with Gamora, which is what they're doing now. The mission somehow brought them back to Berhert, which also brought back some unwanted memories from the two months prior. Ego. Yondu. Their fight. That was all in the past, but a remainder of it still sent a horrible feeling to their guts. Although, they did miss how beautiful the planet looked at night.

Hand-in-hand, they walk far away from the Benatar. They take in the calming nature of the forest, in a comfortable silence. At least until Peter trips over his own two feet, mesmerized by the beautiful scenery.

"Are you okay?" Gamora asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, but it's surprisingly really comfy down here." With a grunt, he rolls himself onto his back and looks up at the stars. A yawn escapes his mouth as he shifts his eyes to Gamora, who's glaring at him with her arms crossed. "I'm too tired to get up."

The woman softens her expression and playfully rolls her eyes. She stretches out her hand to him, only to get gently pulled beside him. If it wasn't for her being as exhausted as he is, she would've hesitated more than she did. And so, they lay there in silence, gazing up at the stars. "It's beautiful."

"Just like you." Peter whispers even though they were completely alone.

A soft chuckle escapes Gamora's mouth. "God, you're such a sap."

"It's true." He states, turning his head to face her. "Where do you see us, like five years from now?"

Gamora turns to lay on her side. "I don't know. I haven't really thought about the future." She looks at him in curiosity. "What about you, Peter Quill? What plans do you have up your sleeve?"

"I mean, I guess I've always had an idea." Peter explains as he mirrors Gamora's position.

"And what's that?"

"I mean, I always saw my mom moping about Ego and...you know what came of that." Gamora nods as if prompting him to continue. "But, um, she always told me these stories about everything they did together. Of course, I never forgave him for leaving, but...this is gonna sound kinda weird...I made her a promise that I'd fall in love with someone who would come back. If that makes sense?" A green hand stretches out to rub his own.

"Of course it does, but it's not weird. Not at all." She gives him a soft, sentimental smile that makes his heart beat a little faster than usual. "What else?"

Peter clears his throat. "Well, I mean, I always watched those movies and TV shows where people fall in love, and get married...even have kids..." The last part is barely audible, but it makes Gamora's smile widen a bit.

"Is that what you want?" The ex-assassin somehow subtly moved closer to him in the time they'd been talking. They're merely inches apart and Peter can count every single one of her eyelashes. "Get married and have children?"

Heat starts to radiate in Peter's cheeks as his face gets slightly more red in the dim rays of the moons. "I guess." He rubs an awkward hand on the back of his neck.

Gamora's hand slides off Peter's hand and onto his chest, looking at him through her eyelids. "And who do you plan to do this with?" It's rare to see Gamora this playful and noticing that she isn't scared of his answer, he decides to play back.

"Well, I mean, there's this girl that totally kicked my ass a few months ago. She's green and she's such a badass with her sword."

"And?" She's leaning into him.

"She's the most beautiful and caring woman I've ever met."

"And?"

His heart is beating out of his chest at this point. "No matter how much shit gets thrown her way, she still has a heart of gold."

"And?"

There's a slight pause as Peter thinks of what to say next. It's hard to think when you have the most dangerous, yet sexiest, woman in the galaxy, pressed up against your chest, grazing your lips with her own. "And I want to live the rest of my life with her by my side, like she is right now."

"God, you're such a sap." With that, she smashes her lips against his. Gamora rolls them both over onto his back, straddling him between his hips and continuing to passionately kiss him. "I...love you." She whispers in between kisses. It's the first time she says it, and if it wasn't for them being out in the open, it might've led somewhere else...

As soon as they break apart for air, they pull back enough to where their foreheads are still touching. Gamora pushes herself off of him enough to where she could grab his hand. She sets their intertwined hands on his chest and lays on top of them.

Peter lifts up his free hand and begins to run his fingers through her hair. After a moment of silence, she finally speaks, "If you do have children with her, what would you name them?"

"If it's a girl, probably Jovi, as in Bon Jovi, of course. If it's a boy, I don't know. Probably, Lennon, as in-"

"John Lennon." Gamora chuckles.

"What about you?"

"I don't know. I love your ideas though."

"Of course, you do." He receives a playful smack against his chest. "Yup, I deserved that."

"I don't want to go back. I'm comfortable here." The woman nuzzles further into his chest and lets out a deep sigh. Eventually, she dozes off and falls asleep on his chest and he's fine with it.

"I love you, too."
