Humans often look at our lives and go, what do we want this to be for? What do we want to do, what do we want this to mean? How do we give this meaning?
Imagine if all of humanity had our needs and wants met.
This is Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Imagine a society where we sorted getting everyone their physiological needs met, no one going hungry, no one without shelter, everyone able to get enough sleep.
What if there were systems that could help everyone get their safety needs met, no violence and no war, with good health systems for all?
Sometimes Utopian science fiction just stops at basic needs. But what if it didn't?
What if there was a society that helped everyone with belonging, community and teaching emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships to ensure no one was completely alone?
What if such a system recognised and appreciated the achievements of all its members and improved people's self esteem?
Starpunk asks the question, what would the world look like if every human was able to achieve self actualisation?
What would the self actualisation of an entire society look like?
What would society looked like if it asked itself what it wanted humanity to mean, and answered that question?
Where do you go when you have everything you want?
This is the question that Starpunk fiction hopes to answer.
