“Ulterior motives? We can’t do nice things for each other? I don’t blame you I am pretty suspicious.” (mafiafell mtt to mafiapaps?)

Wingdings had not wanted Papyrus to be the one dealing with Mettaton.
He hadn’t said it outright, but Papyrus could tell. When he’d begun establishing a presence for himself in the Gaster brothers’ turf, Papyrus had volunteered to make the introductions. Wingdings had hesitated, in that way that usually told Papyrus he was trying to find a way to decline without wounding his ego too terribly. He knew that he was trying to find the most diplomatic way to give this task to Sans.
And that had just driven Papyrus to be more insistent. Wingdings had sighed in that affectionately chagrined way he did sometimes. He’s... quite a smoothtalker, Papyrus, Wingdings had stated plainly. I need someone I can trust not to get taken in by that.
That had just raised his hackles even further. Was Wingdings calling him gullible?! The very idea was offensive to Papyrus, who was both extremely clever and an excellent judge of character! He hadn’t let the matter rest, posing many well-thought-out arguments about how their lazybones middle brother could hardly be counted on to add one more thing to his plate, and how Papyrus could prove himself if given half a chance. He’d gone on for some time making his case, until Wingdings had looked up at him silently from his desk, cigarette in hand--with that intense stare that made Papyrus feel like a bug being observed in a jar.
When that look came, Papyrus usually started bracing himself for the worst. But then finally, Wingdings sighed, with a flippant gesture that said he would allow his youngest brother’s request, and also that he would entertain no further discussion on the matter.
He’d won the opportunity. And so of course, he’d had to impress. Papyrus had been all the more on his guard at the time of the meeting, body language closed off and his scowl deeper than usual. Wingdings thought he was easily led astray by flattery and sweet words? Well, he’d just have to prove him wrong!
“You and I know nice things don’t come free in this line of work.” He’d heard that line from Wingdings before, and it felt appropriate to use here. “So! Spit it out already. What’s the catch? What is it you want from the Gaster family?”
