sungho as your high school crush who unfortunately passed away before you can confess your feelings... 5 years later when you get the chance to change fate you take it, going back 5 years to prevent sungho from ever crossing that road.
the first time you go back you manage to stop him from crossing the road but he gets hit in the head with a flowerpot a minute later. the fourteenth time you go back you've somehow made it to the birthday that never was and then he was immediately taken out by a mysterious sickness. by the twentieth you've made it to two years of being lovey dovey together and when you finally think you've helped sungho escape death... you learn that you will just keep failing every time, and whenever some unfortunate accident befalls sungho, it keeps changing the future and everything keeps messing up until you realise that the past is the present and the future is now... you can't change the unchangeable, you can't keep fate from moving on, and you can't escape death with sungho still. a soft flutter of the butterfly's wings in the past will echo into the future, and you're just delaying the inevitable.
sungho, throughout these cycles of you trying to save him, somehow realises what you've been doing, remembering each time what happened. in the end, he realises that he's the one causing all these loops because he can't let go of what he could've had. in the end he comes to terms with all this and says goodbye to you. as he goes he tells you he loves you and rights the butterfly effects of the past and erases your memories of the cycles too, content with his life and what has happened. you might not remember all the lifetimes you had together at this point, but he does and that's all that matters. he gives up everything he ever wanted just so you can be happy, and that's alright to him.
