Starside – Alex Aster
from alexaster's instagram
This incredible art by @/kalisamiii shows Aris & Raker, enemies who must work together to survive a deadly quest across the magical world of Starside. It has: ❤️🔥Enemies to lovers ⚔️Magical swords 🐉Dragons ✨Quest for magic
You guys… really really wanted to like starside by alex aster bc i saw pretty fanart with dragons. Anyone bashing sjm’s prose needs to read just 1 chapter and they will come back changed.
Tell me how the FMC has an entire argument with her father figure and we literally only see her dialogue and not a single line from him. I really wish i could push through these things but i had to dnf. someone tell me it gets better bc i want to read about women and their dragons :(
so. does alex aster want to explain how the line "It was a skill I taught myself, before coming to the Centennial." made it into her new book starside. the explicitly non-lightlark book.
I honestly have this reluctant respect for authors who write the exact same book with the exact same characters over and over and over again, package and market them with some slight differences and then go on to sell them to millions of adoring fans for millions of dollars.
Yes, they've done away with creativity, but they've somehow won at capitalism and mass-consumerism as an "artist". Respect.
Aster is a privileged little liar part 2
Didn't mean for this to have a part 2, but check out this typo! This is from Starside, not Lightlark.
As if the allegations of Starside being repurposed fanfiction weren't enough, here she straight up forgot to change the term!
How did the editors miss this!? Harper Collins what are you doing!?
This is the smoking gun for my earlier post. I said there was no way Starside was an idea Aster had in mind for ten years and this kinda proves that.
Cause how else could a mistake like this happen if the idea for this book predates Lightlark!? IT DOESN'T ADD UP!
