His  senses  perk  up  for  a  moment,  and  he  stares  at  the  other  for  a  moment  or  so.  He  would  normally  remember  people  like  this  one;  yet,  there  was  something  familiar  about  her  as  well.  He  couldn't  put  a  finger  on  it  for  a  moment  as  he  shook  his  head.

"I  don't  think  we  have,  but  I  am  on  the  news  a  lot.  I  am  from  the  White  Tiger  Guild,  so  my  name  appears  in  newspapers  and  the  media  frequently.  "

He  pulled  a  small  smile  on  his  face,  more  like  an  offer  of  his  being  friendly.

“Though,  may  I  ask  your  name?  While  I'll  admit  you  do  have  this  familiar  sense  to  you,  I  can't  put  my  mind  to  it  as  well."

USUALLY,  PIKE  likes  to  think  of  herself  as  gentle.  kind,  even.  or  at  least  she  tries  to  be.  it’s  ———  hard,  sometimes.  to  be  a  healer.  to  have  to  stay  behind.  to  build  roots  &  wrap  injuries  with  bandages  while  her  family  is  off  saving  the  world.  pike  can  only  save  their  lives,  but  she  would  prefer  to  be  there  with  them.  to  prevent  them  from  crossing  the  threshold  at  all.

     Hands roam over the forend of the rifle, a worn and dirty piece of cloth wrapped between the knuckles as he works on keeping the contraption clean. He was glad to discover that tinkering still offered a welcome respite from the chaos of the world, especially after everything that had happened. 

     He was keenly aware of his newcomer status among the group, the attempts at trying to look tough and spook him into being a team player were all part of the expected, if not ultimately unnecessary, theatrics. So, at her words, he simply stops, an eyebrow quirking curiously as he glances upward from the tree trunk he was using as a make-shift desk. If she was expecting him to drop all he was doing and gasp in horrified shock at her words, she was about to be sorely disappointed. 

     ‘‘ Most people are, in my experience.’’ The smallest of smiles twitches at the corners of his lips, head dipping once more as he turns his attention back to his work, ‘‘ You are one of the very few that happen to be honest about it. ’’
