BARBARA rubbed her eyes, holding back a yawn. It was late, and the coffee shop was about to shut its doors for the night. For the last couple of days, the redhead had been more dependent on coffee than usual. Between the carnival, fighting with her father, Dick getting injured and knowing the Joker had broken out of Arkam and was roaming the streets - it had been hard for her to get more than an hours sleep at a time. Frustrated she stared down at her laptop screen: the situation seemed to get direr every day and more hopeless at that. She grabbed her coffee cup, draining the last few drops. “Maybe I should have put something a little stronger in this,” she muttered to herself, looking down at the empty cup.

The rubber sole of Ezra’s loafer clicks against the titled floor of the coffee shop as he waits in line impatiently. Things had been going alright - well even - they’d finally been recovering from the events of Paiytn kidnapping - perhaps recovering was a strong word. But at the very least things had began to quieten down and settle into some version of normalcy. At least the Costello version od normalcy that is.

Then Ezra had gone away and business - and all hell had gone to shit while he was gone - nothing like coming back from lunch in the desert to half a dozen messages that his brother had been shot. No one could ever say their life was boring that was for sure. Of course, Ezra had booked the first flight home - leading him to be standing in a stuffy over the crowded coffee shop - waiting in an obviously long line. If he was going to visit his brother and keep it together - he needed caffeine first.

“Jesus Christ,” Ezra muttered under his breath. It wasn’t that he blamed the clearly ill-experienced barista behind the counter, but he’d been standing there for at least twenty minutes. He taps his heel against the tile again. A nervous tick. He looked down at his watch, eying the still atrociously long line. “This is going to take forever.” @parabellum-starters

Ari looked like shit, for lack of better wording. His brother’s giant hoodie engulfed his slim figure as he trudged through the drugstore looking for painkillers. Of course he had to run out right when he needed them most. Though his scent was masked mostly by his brother’s, he was sure the other patrons could smell the lingering sweetness that heat brought on.

Stopping to examine a bottle with tired eyes, he dropped his shopping basket carelessly into the middle of the isle, sighing and rubbing at his lower back.

It had been about a week since Willa discovered Logan was seeing someone and since she had lied and told him she was too. It was also a week ago that Willa opened up to Logan about her rape, and since then she has been seeing a professional to work through it. Willa was not looking forward to this date, she had to convince her work friend, who fit the description of the Rick she had told Logan about, to pretend to be her boyfriend. Willa was planning on making Logan jealous tonight, she knew that what she was doing was desperate and probably a bit insane, but it’s too late to back out now.

Willa finished getting ready and looked herself over in the mirror. She looked good, but she wasn’t trying as hard as the night they went clubbing. She decided to wear something that was more herself, and she thought she looked better in the Jeans, a soft, silky, peach colored, button up shirt with rolled up sleeves, and her hair down. Willa grabbed her purse and put on a pair of flats. She told Logan she would meet him at that restuarant, that ‘Rick’ was driving her. Willa heard the door bell ring and she answered, it was her friend.Willa was relieved that she was at least doing this with a good friend. She briefed him in the car, and she was feeling pretty confident about the whole thing. They arrived at the restuarant and Willa took a deep breath, she was not looking forward to meet this Carla girl. Willa and ‘Rick’ walked into the restuarant hand in hand. She spotted Logan and a girl at a table and they walked over to them. Willa plastered on a fake smile “ Hi, this is Rick. Rick this is my best friend Logan” she said introducing the too “ I’m guessing you’re Carly?” She said in a sicking sweet voice to the woman, again purposely saying her name wrong. ‘Rick’ pulled a chair out for Willa and she sat down, he then took a seat beside her. “ Thanks babe.” she said kissing him on the cheek “ Anything for you” he winked. Willa grinned, he was doing great. She watched Logan to see his reaction.

It wasn’t like the other was avoiding him... probably. So what if he hadn’t seen him since he’d shut himself in his room the previous day? There were other times when they only ever saw each other once, both rushing out to go here and there. But usually they at least were aware of the other’s presence... Beck couldn’t say for sure if Chris was even home right now. And he wasn’t about to go knock on his door to find out. What would he even say? ‘Hi, I was wondering if you were purposefully trying not to see me?’ He winced at the thought. No, he just needed to give the other his space for a while. Yesterday had been interesting, to say the least. He honestly wasn’t sure who was surprised more when he’d propositioned his roommate--- Him, or Chris; his friends were even more shocked, some excited for him, other’s doubtful of a positive outcome. And maybe Beck was just trying to keep positive, but he kind of hoped the other would prove them all wrong. Though he doubted that was the likely case considering he hadn’t even seen the other all day-- Not even at meal times, which were usually his favorite.

So, settling into the couch, Beck attempted not to become devastatingly depressed as he flipped through the channels, letting out a heavy sigh then as he settled on a re-run of Miss Congeniality. --- What? Sandra Bullock was the best. Though as the door suddenly opened then, he couldn’t help but jump slightly, his eyes flicking over as he watched the other walk through. “---- Uh, hi,” He said awkwardly as he physically felt the tension hang in the air between them. "I thought... I didn't know if you were here or not."

Fuck.
