It was an accident and thanks to therapy and a certain someone Ares hadn't lashed out as harshly as he normally would. He didn't want to startle the kid. "Look the bleeding will stop soon enough."

Alice grimaced, feeling rather queasy the longer they looked at the blood. Maybe they shouldn’t have offered to help, but at the time it felt like the right thing to do. “A-Are you really sure?” Alice asked uneasily. “You should maybe wrap it in something or-- or take the-- the piece out first...”
