Finished Star Wars: Dooku Rising today! In addition to just feeling good that I’ve walked on the treadmill four days in a row (and hit my step goal three days) I also really enjoyed this book. Considering that I had considered Dooku to be pretty much a stock villain type in the movies, it was fun to see his character fleshed out. I particularly appreciated that we weren’t presented with one particular moment where he turns evil. I also really liked the portrayal of the Jedi as a flawed order, whose own teachings may have helped nudge some of their own to the “dark side.” I feel like this is completely in keeping with what we’ve seen in the movies and TV shows, and not just the more recent productions. I feel like this is all rooted in seeds planted by George Lucas in his movies and in the Clone Wars TV series. It’s maybe a view at odds with the fan preference for clear-drawn lines between black and white, good and evil, but then, vocal fans demanding a more simplistic view of the universe is kind of what put me off reading Star Wars fiction for a bit, because I was associating discomfort with those fans with discomfort with Star Wars. I’m glad I decided to get over that hump with this book, because it was a lot of fun, and reminded me that the Star Wars I love is different from the one the fans that I don’t love are trying to demand. #thismakesmehappy #starwars #starwarsbooks #starwarsbook #starwarsdooku #starwarsdookujedilost #starwarsdookujedilostaudiobook #dooku #dookujedilost #dookujedilostaudiobook #audiobook #audiobooks #audiodrama https://www.instagram.com/p/BynM61Chepi/?igshid=zq2gdfbcgefa
