“Um, hi, excuse me?” Charlie asked, tugging on the man’s pant leg. The four-year-old fidgeted for a moment before plowing on. “You’re Mr. Captain Jim, right?”

“ You know, the whole point of having a closed door is so that no one barges in, i could have been dressing. would it kill you to knock first? -oh but i'm forgetting, you don’t play by the rules, do you, jim? “

HANDS REACHING OUT FOR THE AUTOMATIC DOOR THAT JUST OPENED, fawn eyes staring on the floor before facing the blonde. amelia pulled her sleeves tight, lips pressed together nervously. ❛ please forgive me. ❜ , the woman whispered on the only sparsely lightened corridor. it was already late at night ( or at least somewhat close to this time ) , when she reached out for the only person she believed to be understood by completely in these belongings. ❛ —— but i can’t sleep. i just . . can’t. i have tried, but . . the nightmares. they keep coming back. ❜

As was common aboard vessels belonging to the Terran Empire, the ISS Enterprise's hierarchy of power could often be considered in a state of flux. Ambition and pure, lethal skill ran rampant among the crew (Captain Tiberius Kirk would have only the best, after all), and like a snake turning on its own tail, so too did the talents of the crewmembers turn on one another in a bid for dominance. It was... expected, encouraged. Amusing, even. But amongst the controlled chaos and plotted machinations, there remained one single constant. A station run like clockwork, insulated by the iron will of one man and the loyalty of his ruthless team. Med Bay. Leonard ‘Sawbones’ McCoy was a damned talented doctor that did not care for power or control. He saw no point to crushing his subordinates beneath his heel, not when their rage was far better served directed elsewhere. The CMO of the Enterprise enforced his will only to see his medical research continue uninhibited. The loyalty of his nurses, ruthless though they were, ensured that the Medical Wing became a mecca of stability, impervious to the power upheavals often taking place beyond its doors. (The fact that Bones had held most of the Enterprise crewmembers lives in his literal hands might also have something to do with it.) It was for these reasons that McCoy rarely left MedBay. He knew his influence and immunity extended only so far, and the doctor's certain freedoms (both a result of his work and his alliance with Kirk) were a point of jealousy among the lesser crew. But evenso, Leonard could not expect to summon Captain James Kirk to his domain like some ensign, not if he intended to keep his one human eye intact. If McCoy wanted Jim, he was going to have to go to him. And while McCoy did not trust the bridge, nor could he avoid it forever... “...Captain..” Bones stepped off the turbolift, aware of the scrutinizing eyes upon him. He spoke with a deferential tone, always careful in mixed company, even as the bio-radial lens of his synthetic eye tracked the vitals of every individual on the bridge. “...If you’ve a minute, I have somethin’ in med bay that might be of interest t’you..” Jim Kirk never could resist a good dissection, especially when it held secrets.
