Furthermore, the US was intended to be a SECULAR NATION. Look at who they were trying to pull away from- they didn't want to be like a government that was not only a monarchy, but where the head of the monarchy was also the head of the church, therefore entwining them completely. Also, I urge you to go look at what Washington and Jefferson stated about our govt's role in religion in the Treaty of Tripoli from 1796. (ctd 3)
Indeed, because the founding fathers knew what happens when the state gets involved in the affairs of religion and vice versa. They did not want this to happen and believed that the Federal government can only deal with secular affairs as the government is a secular institution. To which I (and I assume the other runners of this blog) do completely agree.
