I admit, starting off Dante was the sweetest little newborn personification ever. He wasn’t exactly welcomed by the native Americans of his land (mainly due to his deathly pale skin and crimson eyes), but he was happy.

Yes, he was alone, but it was all he knew so he had no concept of loneliness. He wasn’t aware he was alone.

Things only went downhill once 2P Spain arrived and then Dante was taken under his wing.

2P Spain was a brutal person though and strict to get his colonies inline. Dante - wasn’t exactly treated well (and that’s putting it lightly) but Dante didn’t know anything else, so he started to read this as a sign of affection. And in that way, he loved Spain back in the same way, starting a twisted game of blatant sadism, because Dante thought it was love.

To show you how messed it up it was Dante once famously quoted to 2P America that “As a child I often played hide and seek with my own fingers.” Mainly, because since Dante was disobedient Spain would cut off his fingers and hide them, and also stated that: “Those were the good times.”

It’s only when Dante was grouped with people like Texas and Mexico that he started to realize subconsciously that things weren’t as they seemed. Dante started to realize that only after 2P Texas tried to stab the other boy and 2P Texas has miraculously pinned Dante down.

But by the time that Dante realized that violence was indeed not a sign of affection, he already enjoyed it since it was all he had really experienced growing up. He enjoyed it even to the point of intentionally hurting himself.

So, Spain had turned Dante into a sadist and masocshit.

But Dante was fully aware now that Spain did not love him as he thought so Dante ended up craving something else. Searching for something else to fulfill the loss of his perception on Spain.

This brings in Cali.

Dante is mighty protective of the younger boy and learned to love him, while keeping up a facade so that Cali remained ignorant of his side hobbies. He didn’t want the other boy to know and react badly like Mexico usually did.

And that is pretty much the basis of Dante’s character as a child. The main figure that played a hand in how Dante is today is 2P Spain.

But Dante still loves Spain in his own special little way! 🔪🔪 🥰

Hey, I was wondering what we could expect from Alaska? I'm a little worried cause the last state fic I read, the person did little to no research. They even admitted to it by saying they could find no info on it but one article that talked about the mountains. So they made him a mountain loving obsessed idiot based on that alone. I'm hoping you won't do that and have done more.

So, you don’t have to worry about that. Though I do have a lot more research to do, I have put a little bit more thought into it than that. For one, Alaska is a little girl around 6 or 7 since I go off of the year that a state entered the Union; however, there was a previous personification of Russian Alaska who is currently M.I.A. (at least to most of the world). Alaska, however, personally knows Russian Alaska, who is a mother figure to her and teaches her everything about the past; everyone else thinks that Russian Alaska is Alaska’s imaginary friend.

As for Alaska’s appearance, she has thick black hair, which is typically characteristic of the Inuit people, and Russia’s lavender eyes, so that gives her characteristics of both her native and Russian heritage. She speaks English, Russian, and the native languages, but she wants to learn more.

She has a husky named Juneau, which not only represents her capital but also her love of dog sledding. Juneau kind of looks like Balto, the famous dog from the Nome serum run (whose body is actually in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, but that’s a different story). She loves being outdoors and being active. She also loves nature in general due to her luscious landscape. Other than that, her favorite activity is fishing, and she’s quite good at it. She also enjoys history and is able to adapt to most environments easily.

She’s also good at defending herself (as good as a child can be), which is a reference to the battles that took place in the Aleutian Islands during WWII.

She’s close to Hawaii due to the fact that not only were they the last states to join the U.S., but opposites attract. She’s also close to her Uncle Canada and Yukon as well as America of course. And Washington kind of keeps an eye on her, due to the fact that he’s the closest state and can easily report back to America on her wellbeing.

Like I said, I have a lot to research, but you don’t have to worry about Alaska being a “mountain loving idiot.” And if you have any tips or anything you think is absolutely vital to include, please let me know. That goes for the other states too. Like I’ve said before, the only personalities I really have down are Ohio (because it’s my home state), Pennsylvania (because it’s my mom’s home state), and Colorado (because I actually have spent a decent amount of time there).
