Everyone in fics say Nicholas leaves tape recorders around which 1. Super wasteful 2. High maintenance 3. Have you forgotten that left of the dial takes place in 2021?

Nicholas has ring cameras in his house for static man. I know tape recorders are on theme... But static man says that as long as he's being recorded in some way, it's fine... Surveillance cameras included.

And of course this doesn't matter and no one cares bc it's been years but I've been thinking forever.
