Life can change within the blink of an eye. One moment, everything is fine. The next, the ground is pulled beneath you. Just a fraction of a second could instantly turn your world upside down. One little blink and all you know is lost.
That was all it took for Sawyer Reynolds to have everything slip through her fingers before she could even realize what was happening. At the age of seven, she was sent to an orphanage shortly following the death of her family from a car accident. Then after years of not finding a family who wanted her, Sawyer left the orphanage once she turned fifteen. On the streets, she picked up on a few things: lying, stealing, and picking locks. As Sawyer would say every time she was caught by the authorities, it was a matter of survival. The police, on the other hand, didn’t agree when she broke into a man’s house to steal some food and priceless items to sell on the black market for money. In the end, she left one hellhole and landed in another. Juvenile detention center.
Though, she didn’t stay there for long.
Turned out the house she broke into belonged to Alexander Pierce, a man who was living a double life. One moment, a well-liked and honorable guy who also was the head of an intelligence organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. Then, in a blink, he was someone completely different. A member of Hydra. Alexander Pierce noticed some traits Sawyer shared that would become useful in the long run so he offered her a choice. Stay in juvie, or join Hydra’s cause.
And in a blink, Sawyer’s life changed once again. She spent years training and learning from Pierce on how to deceive everyone, becoming another lethal member of the cause. And while his plan on turning the young woman into his prized pupil was on a steady and successful path, it came to a halt when a certain super soldier became involved. All within the blink of an eye.
