Arcade feature #1: Beatrix Potter
Observation underpinned all of Beatrix's nature drawings. While she used a carefully controlled dry brush technique for much of her work during the 1890s, such as this finished botanical study of sea lavender, Beatrix was also adept at making quick watercolour sketches of flowers in situ. Some of her liveliest work can be seen in her depictions of flowers and landscapes.
