If you've ever passed through Gipsy Hill station in south London, there's a good chance you've met Fanny. She's been greeting commuters for years and has become such a beloved part of the neighborhood that locals twice came together to help pay for her veterinary care. When we spoke with Francis, one of the volunteers who helps care for Fanny, she told us something we hadn't heard before: "Without Fanny, a Friends of group for Gipsy Hill station would never have been called for." Today, that volunteer group still helps look after the station, while Fanny continues doing what she's always done: making the journey home a little friendlier🧡
