What makes a Marriage? (May change title)
It had been exactly 20 minutes since her father left her at the dock. He spoke softly to her before saying he'd return for the wedding in a week. It made her wonder why she couldn't stay on the open sea for that week with him and the crew, but Roger insisted that the king wanted her in the palace to prepare for the ceremony. The ocean breeze trickled her nose softly as a carriage pulled to the docks. It was time. Ace would no longer be the renowned pirate princess; deadly and cunning, now she would be a queen to her new king.
The carriage seat was one of the most comfortable seats she had had the pleasure to sit upon, if only it had been under better circumstances. It was for her father and belated mother that she was doing this for, giving her body to a stranger in order to strengthen the agreement between king Sabo and her father. She was left out of the details is what her father thought. Eavesdropping was one of her pass times. It wasn't long before the palace came into view.
Dread was creeping into every fiber of her being as she ascended the stairs. Soon she'd be face to face with her new fiance. "Shit." The word slipped forth as she was let through the doors. Guards had surrounded her from the moment she stepped foot into one of the royal carriages. This would be new and annoying for her to get used to. The guard lead her deeper into the palace before stopping at another set of large doors.
"The king will see you now." He spoke gruffly before opening the doors and allowing her in. To say she felt underdressed was an understatement. Her simple black dress that hung taught against her breast paled in comparison to the fancy elegance decorating the walls of the throne room. "King Sabo." Her charcoal shaded eyes peered straight ahead into his.
