Finally finished the Melinoe model! The last picture is a side by side with my friend's version of it. It was interesting to see how our color choices differed.
The Oscar statuettes were hand-painted from sketches by Marc Jacobs, as were the filmstrips featuring famous actors. After Cindy Crawford wore the evening skirt on the runway in New York, Perry Ellis, Inc. was threatened with a lawsuit for copyright and trademark infringement by the Academy, ca. 1992.
The painted cotton organdy skirt was a gift of Perry Ellis Inc. to The Museum at FIT.
