My heart aches for you more than my words can describe. These people here are different. They don’t breathe the same air, walk the same ground, share the same beauty, or smile quite like you do — they aren’t you.

My hands ache to be in yours, only to settle for the pockets of my sweatshirt. They lack warmth, affection, and comfort — they aren’t your hands.

My body aches to feel your touch. These cotton sheets, leather seats, the fall heat — they aren’t your touch.

My soul aches to share the same space with you. The crowded stores, lonely car rides, and still mornings — I don’t get to see you there.

You’re overseas, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about you every waking moment.

We’re six hours apart, but I’ll still have the biggest smile on my face when I get to call you at 4 in the morning.

You’re busy working more days and hours because of the pandemic, but I’ll still stop whatever I’m doing to text you when you’re free.

You’re thousands of miles away, further than anyone I’ve ever talked to before, and yet I’ll still wait for you because there’s no one else I want more than you.

I’d see you in a heartbeat with the first opportunity I had, because that would be an experience of a lifetime. Nothing could compare.

I could never see myself watching a Korean drama, but I’ll watch them for hours if it means getting to spend that time with you watching what you like.

You might be half a world away, but my heart says otherwise.
