THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
LOOK AT THIS WATERCOLOR.
IGNORE SONIC BEING SONIC.
Sonic and Tails get to the Death Egg’s control room and...
THIS. This is what makes Sonic a hero in every continuity. He’s willing to risk his life to save people. And even if this version of Sonic finds Tails a little annoying, he’s still going to make sure he’s safe too.
And so Tails thinks Sonic dies. After this is a few panels where Tails reflects on Sonic’s heroism, and grieves for him. The art doesn’t show this well at all--one of the panels is shown below--but if you can improve it in your imagination, it’s really touching.
But of course, Sonic isn’t dead. He somehow escaped the falling Death Egg and climbed up Tails’ escape pod, which is both egg-shaped and mid-air. Yeah, it makes no sense.
Sonic! The kid literally thought you were dead! Cut him some slack!!
StC Sonic: risks his life to save everyone, then gives people grief for grieving.
This is fantastic
Tails is a curious boi
This issue actually takes place after the events of Sonic 2, so Silver Sonic is already beat up. This time, Sonic takes it the rest of the way apart.
Which raises the question, why is Wing Fortress still in the sky, when Robotnik isn’t using it anymore? Why are there still Cluckers around, when Sonic should have broken them all open already to free the animals?
It doesn’t make sense, but this is a comic issue from the 90′s which will soon have no significance in the rest of the series, so whatever.
The Kintobor Computer says that the Death Egg is on a crash course for the Emerald Hill Zone! Sonic and Tails rush to Wing Fortress so they can reach the Death Egg, just like in the game.
Look! It’s the Clucker badnik! And the barrier boss! I love these direct rips from the game, and I’m enjoying them while I can.
And Sonic is being foolish, what else is new?
Sonic the Comic #6
Nothing to say about the cover, so let’s get to the story!
This is the first mention of Dr. Kintobor, and he is Very Important. I’d call this the Comic’s first real step away from the games.
If you don’t already know about Kintobor, it’s explained here. More info to come in issue #8.
Also, Sonic has a secret base! That’s good to know.
