The library on Serenity was quiet.

Heath was working on tapping information about books in his datapad — author, title, year and place of publish —, when he suddenly sensed someone with the Force boarded the Serenity. He was aware who'd be so powerful so he'd sense him from so far away; Heath's library was vast, and he wasn't near the docking bay, but he was so tuned to the other Knights' and his Master's power that he knew Ren was on board instantly.

And knowing that, he became restless.

He hadn't been told if Kylo would actually visit the library he was at; he had no idea if the man would even show up here if he came for something else. But he was suddenly so nervous. Would he be required to go on a mission again? What if he had to leave his library? This place became his home. What if he had to go on a planet? The thought made him uneasy.

He continued his work, though. In hopes there wasn't any problems with his Master, the other Knights and the First Order.

Fat chance. The war still was on.

It was so rare that she was given the position of power in life; even when she had fought and scrabbled for any sort of agency there had always been another above her wanting to take it away. That Kylo -- Ben, the name she allowed past her lips when he was truly, completely open to her -- would give her this just gave her another reason to trust him.

Even if this is in play only, she’ll happily take it, her hands running along his broad shoulders to his back and further down, marveling in such a deadly, intimidating being giving himself over to her. This is the thrill of power that has created monsters, she’s sure, but all she can think of is the same sharp buzzing under her skin that seared their first touch into her mind.

“How many do you think you should get?” she asked, body tilted so she could press her lips to his ear.

Lauren was quiet for a moment, unsure of how to respond. Was this a test? Was she supposed to lie and say no? Or answer truthfully and say yes? Either way, she had to say something... And now. The second in the Knights stepped closer to the leader... Her partner and closest friend. Someone she would lay her life and honor for; The only one she abandoned her hatred for the first order and her plans for vengeance for her family’s murder... To follow him.

“... I... Why do you ask me this...? Have I not... Proven it? I left the Jedi, threw everything away because I wanted to follow you. I believed in you, over anything else. I... I want to be with you. However you will have me in your life, I want it.”

Her heart thudded wildly, and she struggled to calm herself... Causing the force within her to once again become erratic. Lauren had to remind herself that she couldn’t express too much emotion... Or she could easily tear this entire ship apart. With a calm breath out, she finally eased her violently beating heart and thus her regaining her control over the force.

“... Yes... I love you as Kylo Ren or Ben Solo... Whoever you are, I love it. But... Why ask me now?”

Was there a catch? Did Snoke finally order him to his death... Or for him to bring her to her own?

Lauren stared at herself in the glistening, full-bodied mirror of her bedroom; Turning her physique from left to right then in a beautiful twirl to get the full effect of her deep, sapphire dress. Freckled shoulders exposed along with the heart shape of her bosom; Sinching at her waistline and flaring out into a soft A line shape toward her ankles. When she heard the other enter the doorway, and smoothly mentioned a bottle of wine he had purchased for the evening, the woman turned to face him with an awkward smile.

“... How do I look...?”

She whispered her question as the very flattering dress sparkled in the dim lighting of the room. All she needed was a necklace, bracelet, earrings... Make up, preferably. It took her all of the night to finally settle on a dress.

The woman recoiled immediately from his bare chest when her leader commented on the frigid temperature of her fingers. She couldn’t help herself... Seeing his body torn the way it was... Whoever this “scavenger” was, she would pay for what she had done to the mighty Kylo Ren. Lauren’s blood boiled at the thought, the metal tables where items used to mend rested, began to rattle and shake; her extreme sensitivity to the force becoming erratic with her rising emotions, until she forced herself to calm down with soft, deep breaths. Only then did the items return to their static state.

“I didn’t mean to touch you, Be— Sir.”

It still was a habit of hers to call out to her partner, Ben, with his abandoned name. Lauren consistently had to remind herself that the leader of the Knights was to be addressed as such. Though as Kylo Ren adjusted himself to a more comfortable position on the infirmary bed, the sun-kissed second in command once again reached for him, this time to take his hand tightly in her own.

“... I’m... Sorry I wasn’t there... I should have been there... This... This wouldn’t have happened. She wouldn’t have... Gotten away with it...”

It was her fault he had been injured so badly.

She watched from the sidelines as her partner and leader struck down San Tekka when he refused to speak up about the map. Of course, the once Jedi in training doubted there even was a map to begin with and that Snoke was just leading them all on a wild goose chase... To separate the Knights. The woman kept this to herself, however, as Kylo Ren twirled the cross saber once and returned it to its dormant state. He commanded them to shoot the rest, to which the woman winced and felt her soul split at the cries and screams of the residents.

Though with a heavy stride, she loyally followed him back into the ship, and the moment she knew they were out of sight of their subordinates, her helmet came clean off. Her wild mane of milk chocolate curls fanned out along her padded shoulders, one coil bouncing into her freckled face which she tried blowing upwards and away from her vision; royal hues narrowing at her partner who... Very rarely, took off his own mask to face her anymore.

“... So this is what we do? Kill innocent people? San Tekka I could get behind... Even if it was cheap. He was old and retired and couldn’t do anything even if he wanted to. But innocent people?!”

The Jedi code still had a small hold on her spirit, which burned brightly in those seas of light.

Preoccupied with the nightstand she’d found at the nearby thrift store and dragged home, Rey didn’t notice the uneasy movement of his body. She’d sat on the floor in front of the couch, the stand before her as she sanded the legs, attention barely directed towards whatever show was going on while her side pressed against his leg.

“I know,” she said, pausing in her task just long enough to give his calf a gentle squeeze. While she knew she was capable enough to protect herself, it was still comforting to know that someone else would protect her too, specifically Kylo. “And I’ll protect you.”
