If any of you out there use Wattpad for your creative writing, you may wish to reconsider. It looks like the terms of service allow people to take your stories and use them with no copyright protection for yourself.

Check the terms of service anywhere you're putting your creative works. Whilst some places might be protecting your rights, in other places you might be signing away ownership when you publish.

Sooo the account that is stealing my fanfics has blocked me

So I can’t see if she continues to steal my work or not because of this.

It is on Wattpad and she literally stole every single one of my F1 oneshots.

I keep seeing all the post about people on wattpad stealing other people's work and I have so many feelings about this. First of all, this is just outrageous and simply illegal. How can you take someone else's hard work and call it yours? Why would anyone do that? Oh right, cause they're attention seeking assholes. New flash people, if you want attention, go and do something useful with your lives that would actually deserve the attention that you so desperately want. I really hope you do pay for your actions in one way or another.

As for all the writers whose work has been stolen - I am so sorry, my loves. I am so sorry that someone would go and use the creations of your amazing minds like that. You do so much for us all, you make our lives better by sharing your stories with us and you do not deserve thid kind of treatment. I love you and I wish you didn't have to go through this 😣

Speaking of stolen things: Don't fucking steal pictures and GIFs for your fanfics, challenges and edits. Yes, sure, the pics of the celebrities make absolute sense, but stuff you find on Pinterest ain't yours. Stop. Photography and editing is just as much of a craft as writing. I don't care how much you like that picture of a bookshelf or that high quality animal picture. Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay and others services exist. As well as the Tumblr GIF search that links to the source automatically. Creative Commons licensed stuff you have to just credit also exists. Stop doing shit you don't want done to yourself. Thanks.

How can I check if my work is being reposted? I’ve had this happen to me before and with a lot of mutuals having their work stolen recently, I’m paranoid about it happening to me again.

So can anyone tell me how I can check if my work is being reposted? Other than googling words from my own work.

Ok, so as to why I deleted the pictures:

Two people reblogged the picture. I have no problem with that, I'm actually honored if you do and give credit to me for it- BUT NOT WHEN YOU FUCKING REBLOG AND DELETE MY COMMENTARY ON IT, WIPING OFF MY CREDIBILITY I got paranoid as fuck, so I deleted it. Now I'm concerned about posting my work on here, thanks to those two. ...I've calmed down about it, but it still pisses me off. You may have had no bad intent on that, but that's my work.
