down below are screenshots with dates in them. read them side by side, it becomes obvious after the third sentence that this is not their fic.
I was told by an anon, which i really do appreciate. that’s how i found out a katseye fic writer stole one of my other fics, so thank you to that anonymous user!
my fic was posted on june 25th, theirs was posted on july 31st. side by side, all they did to make it less… obvious was maybe the formatting but even in the side by sides… it’s really shitty. just… why? why steal work from another hard working author.
the fucking funniest part about all of this is that in their fic, they fix the formatting and put a little italic here and there but they’re too excited to post their shitty plagiarized fic that they don’t fix my late night grammar and sentence mistakes plus they had to erase the part of peter’s powers in their fic so they had time to think about this and say “hey maybe let’s not post this and make it known that i plagiarize” but they still posted it so idk.
down below is the link to the original fic; don’t harass this person— just warn their followers that they’re supporting an author who very openly plagiarizes, not that it’s their fault, i bet no one knew this was plagiarism except the one anon account who told me about it. i’m only making this post to warn the enhypen fandom about this writer and to take any fics they do write with a grain of salt of the legitimacy of it. what’s shittier is that this person is clearly a good writer from the fics i read just to see… but like… why steal from another author?
I want to preface this with this is completely my fault. Maybe there were signs I should’ve seen or I should’ve been more cautious. But I also want to say this person was indeed an artist as well and this was different from a typical scam. Their account “moondustlines” is still active but they have me blocked.
On the 26th of June I was contacted by this individual asking to participate in a commission. Of course I was skeptical, but afterwards of checking their profile for a bit I had deemed this person safe to interact with. They gave me their ideas and I presented them with the rough draft of my work. Throughout this entire time they remained professional and cordial.
They gave me helpful feedback for what they thought their client would want and look for. This eased my worries of this being illegitimate and I felt comfortable moving forward. If this was a “just a scam” then this was incredibly high effort.
Here is my finished and revised version.
At this point I should bring up the monetary side as well. As the above photos say, I was promised 30% of this commission. But what I was not told and the artist failed to mention was that I was being mailed the original check by the client and would be expected to then distribute it to the person I was working with their fair share. I only learned of this after the check had been deposited into my bank account and they had asked for their share.
In the first above two pictures nothing has been said about the check I received having a portion liquidated to them, only after the fact when the reason was given. I brushed it off, reasoning they just might’ve forgotten to elaborate or were under some impression that I already knew. The method of transaction that was used was Chime. Overall I sent them 350 dollars out of the 500 dollar check, leaving me with my portion of 150. Which honestly I still thought was amazing and incredible for never having done this before. But the next day the check I had put into my account was under review.
Now this is the part where I knew I had made the blunder of not transferring funds correctly, as I had transferred the money within relatively soon time after the money was made available. That I acknowledged and understood. I had no worries about the check being illegitimate either as it very well clear and passed inspections. So I assumed that the bank would review the check, see it was fine, and that I was not scammed. Except that did not happen. And now I was officially 350 dollars short out of my bank account.
So of course I let them know. And even to that point I had no suspicions that this was an intentional scam. This person could’ve immediately blocked me, they could’ve disappeared forever but they didn’t. They expressed concern multiple times. They presented me solutions and offered help to expedite the processes of getting what I was due. But after a week I was left completely in the dark with no new information. And then I was blocked.
The part that hurts about all this as well isn’t the money that I lost, but that another artist has taken my work. Someone that I had given trust in and they had shared about the process of their own work alongside me. I’ll make the money back again, I know I will, but right now there is no honor being upheld for the work that I put effort and time into for the sole purpose of it being enjoyed by another. As for the client themselves, I’ve chosen to keep any info about them in the conversations out. While I’m not sure in this current moment, I do not believe they had anything to do with this and are a victim of circumstance. I’m currently trying to contact them right now and depending on how they respond will affect my opinion.
With all this being said, please do not talk to this artist if they contact you. Do not make the same mistake I made. I will be posting the poem I made for this commission later, because it deserves to be enjoyed by the people who read my work and I am no longer held under any obligation of the sort for this. Sorry for the rant.
Hey, if anyone here has a scribd account, can you report this for me? It’s the first chapter of MY fanfiction reposted without my knowledge nor consent.
Google drive evidence above in the thing which is just my YouTube comments directly from YouTube no edits because it's just the requested info from them as a file.
The Property of Hate was one of the most original, thought-provoking webcomics out there. And the creator's heart and soul. But she is now the victim of creative theft, with the thieves posting 'their' versions of RGB on their Youtube Channel. It's awful. I hate it. If you can, do your share and report this to YouTube. Channels like MrPuzzlesUniverse have no place in the world.
Hi guys, this account is stealing writers' works to post explicit content.
The screenshotted post specifically is from my lovely @darlingbambii so if you did like the writing please do give her love.
As for the account, if you could all report it for stealing content / posting explicit content that would so appreciated. Bambii isn't the only writer whose work has been stolen by this blog and it's a shitty thing for a writer to put effort into their art to have it stolen by a p*rn blog.
I have been made aware of another bullet train author who has copied at least one of my historic works on tumblr claiming it to be their own.
If you see any of my fics shared by ANY ACCOUNT asking for you to donate to paetreon or giving you a ko-fi link, that is NOT ME. I do NOT monitize my fanfiction. I write fanfiction for FREE, for the love of the characters.
To see this from another fanfiction author who is also promoting their original work is both saddening and makes me extremely frustrated and angry. I spend hundreds of hours writing for fandoms I love without ever asking for more than a ‘if you’d like I’d appreciate a comment’.
I have personally blocked that author across all of my accounts, but would appreciate it if anyone does let me know if they ever see my work being used by any other author.
My fandom works can only be found under the username otaku_girl (on ao3, squidgeworld), otaku-girl-ao3 (limited on wattpad), and here on tumblr.
