so I was just made aware of this by an anonymous request that I’m so grateful for (never had this happen before) but this user stole my work. below are the side by side, I am the steve harrington writer on top and the stolen work is at the bottom.

I posted mine on the 17th of december and the other user posted theirs the 26th. it is not even a “well they’re very similar!” they don’t even try to hide the fact that they stole my work, it is a one for one recreation with small sentence adjustments and the gender/name being swapped out.

it sucks that I had this happen to me, but please beware! this person might steal other’s content too! don’t tag her, don’t harass her in her comments or dm’s; just block her and report her post for plagiarism! (the sheer fucking audacity to put in ur post to not steal ur work all while stealing from someone else is fucking crazy but whatever)

it’s not that hard to come up with original content!

Hi all! I hate to be coming on here and doing this but unfortunately there is an account who has decided to steal my work and block me when called out for it.

Their account is @madi34487 and they have word for word stolen one of my TikTok headcanons and posted it here on tumblr as their own work.

This is mine, posted on TikTok 2 days ago.

Then theirs, posted last night on here.

If this person had been honest, owned up and deleted the post I wouldn’t have taken this further.

However blocking me and refusing to take the post down tells me they are likely guilty of doing this with all their writing.

I know I’m not well in the resident evil community on here yet, but I would really appreciate some help/people standing by here to make sure this person does not get any more support for stolen works.

I am saddened it has come to me having to make posts on all my socials, but alas, that is the world we live in.

I normally don’t get upset about stuff but this needs to get out more traction to get her off this app. So, spread the word — block, report and share. I know I’m being hypocritical with this blog but Joelspookie can’t keep getting away with this.

She’ll keep stealing and reposting fics word for word, without giving credit until Tumblr does something eventually so please please do what you all can. Share with friends, tell mutuals, reblog. Whatever gets word out.

NONE of us take plagiarism lightly nor blatant stealing.

So I urge you all to find the original creators to every work this person has stolen to support them instead

Heads up to people who use AO3.

I was alerted by @nekoannie-chan that there was a post on Twitter or X that if you use AO3 that your work might be stolen and run through AI.

When I looked up my username I found 5 of my fics listed on the link I’m about to share.

Attn authors on AO3! Just learned about this on a writing discord I’m in and thought I’d share.

A new website, https://rivd.net/, has cropped up and has been shown to have stolen/scraped works from Ao3, which are being scraped and uploaded at a rather impressive speed.

At this time, it isn't clear if site owners have wised up and have started taking the fics down, as the site requires an account and also the current *justified outrage* at this has led to an apparent overload on the site's servers, meaning they've basically shut down the search and privatized their fanfiction category.

The best way to protect your work if it has not already been scraped is by locking it to all logged out users. It’s unfortunate as guest comments and kudos are so precious to us authors, but it will protect your works from being scraped.

This will be more than likely my last post on this user unless more traced art pops up. Please do not interact with this user, as not only is he an art thief, but a guy who harasses a lot of people with death threats, sui*ide encouragement, and slurs. There are a lot of posts that document his harassment, so my post is documenting mostly the huge amounts of tracing and theft he has also partaken in.

I would advise against RPing with or drawing gift art for this user, as you will be drawing OCs that are not his or traced in the process. Plus, the amount of genuine harm he's caused should warrant a block immediately to protect you from also being in his harassment range.

Plus, as I said in the document, please do not contact the artists. We have spoken with one already, are waiting on a response from the other, and they are not happy with this situation. There is no need to bother them anymore, as they are aware of this problem now. And please stop using the traced artwork, as it will only hurt the original artist further.
