Stearica announce new album Golem 202020 for 19th March 2021 release

Golem 202020 is a 10-track recording synthesis curated from the full soundtrack of the classic silent horror film ‘Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam’ created by the Italian avant/post/progressive rock band STEARICA.

The soundtrack was originally commissioned by The Italian National Museum of Cinema and the Traffic Free Festival and was performed in the Museum’s cinema as a live soundtrack to the film as part of the MiTo Settembre Musica in September, 2011.

The ten tracks, which cover the five chapters into which the film is divided, were recorded live in 2014 during a studio session organized to immortalize the work, with further embellishments added in 2019 while still maintaining the original arrangement.

To celebrate the centenary of the film, which was first screened in the theatre on October 29th, 1920, the penultimate track ‘IN FLAMES (The fire spell – chapter 5)’ has been shared by the band.

Stearcia’s Francesco Carlucci comments, 'The first track we can reveal from this album is a journey into the flames. The Golem, maddened by the passion of love, sets fire to the tower and kidnaps the Rabbi's daughter. He becomes rebellion and destruction. A desperate race towards nowhere begins, the race of fire and possession. The supernatural is indomitable, passion is indomitable. The rabbi remains a guide for his people, a guarantee of safety and protection, even from the creature he has generated. Salvation is for the whole village, not just for one man.

The magician keeps us together: salvation is a team game, now more necessary than ever.’

Last saturday Stearica celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band in the venue I’m currently working in, Magazzino Sul Po, in our hometown Torino. It’s really been intense, they had Can’s Damo Suzuki, Girls Against Boys’ Scott McCloud and Fluxus’ Franz Goria as guests. I really enjoyed doing sounds for them and for such great guests! Here’s a short excerpt of their set, Girls Against Boys’ Bulletproof Cupid featuring Scott McCloud.

Summer/Fall 2017

Sooo, it’s time for a brief summary of what happened in the last months. Aside from my studio activity (which has gone great, expect some great stuff coming from Tons, Thirst Prayer and Last Minute To Jaffna) I did some live engineering aswell. Last August I flew with Stearica to England, at Arc’Tan’Gent Festival precisely. We played the main stage a couple hours after noon, and it’s been really great. Twenty years ago I remember them playing at our school’s party, and now they’re playing the same stage Converge played some hours later!

Back home I did FOH at Varvara Festival, like every year. It’s been such a pleasure working for a living legend as Justin Broadrick, who took part as JK Flesh. Here’s some live videos: JK Flesh

Last October I've been touring with Zatokrev, from 16th to 24th. After a warm-up show doing FOH for The Leaving (solo project of Zatokrev's Fredi) in Basel with my friends Father Murphy and the goddess Jarboe, we left for Eastern Europe. We had a great time through Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria, met cool people and great bands. We shared the bill three times with Au Dessus and in Varna I had the pleasure to do FOH for them aswell. Here's a couple tracks from Zatokrev show at Underworld, in Bucharest:
