Hey, thank you so much for telling me! I’m glad it’s cathartic 🥰💜🥰💜
Okay I'm losing my mind and I feel like you're the person who can point me in the right direction.
There was this Steddie fic i remember reading where Steve got adopted by Hop and when Hop "dies" Joyce tries to take El to California because Steve is about to go to college, but Steve is like you can't just take my sister I'll figure something out. And Eddie ends up helping him so Steve can still go to college and stay on campus a couple days out of the week and come home to be with Eddie and El.
Anyway I'm losing my mind because I cannot find it. I thought it was this one fic, but it turns out it isn't and now I'm sad. Help 😭😭😭
Oh lord, I really don’t look at my ask box enough, I’m sorry, nonny. This is from almost a month ago. I do not know this fic, can anyone help out?
I go back and reread your sad steddie wip and the hopper+joyce not liking Steve Drabble when I need to feel sad. I love them
This makes me so happy to hear, thank you 🥰
SAD STEDDIE SCENARIO MY BELOVED.
Loved it! I am not a fan of the CC boys but I get their perspective. I appreciate so much that Grant, at least, seemed to genuinely care if Eddie was actually okay after his break up while Jeff and Gareth were celebrating.
I get why but knowing what I know as the reader, big oooof to those two.
I am very excited to find out what Robin has to say to Eddie.
Absolutely worth the wait and I'd wait another year for the next part, too.
I added the fic to my queue but u think it doesn't post until tomorrow so I needed to send an ask right now and gush about it.

Babe!! Thank you!! I’m so glad you liked it!! (And I hope you don’t mind me using your ask to write meta about my own fic lmao. I started the below and my Adderall kicked in and apparently I had Thoughts.)
Yeah, the CC boys aren’t showing well, are they? If I was writing something longer, I’d probably explore them more, but in my head they’re acting from a place of trauma too. The general trauma of living through high school when you don’t fit in, but also of course the trauma of spring break when their friend/mentor disappeared on them under accusations of murder and the guys who probably bullied them violently confronted them and forced them to betray said friend.
Now Eddie’s back and feeding them a story they know is bullshit about where he was and he’s got Steve fucking Harrington in tow, who, as Wayne said in part 3, reminds them a lot of Jason Carver and his cronies. Eddie’s thick as thieves with Steve now, dating him even, and they’re just supposed to believe Steve’s a good guy now?
I also picture Steve as very…idk how to say it…insular? He has his friends, he wants to hang out with them, and he doesn’t feel the need to make an effort outside of that. Sure he was a popular guy in high school but I definitely lean into the headcanon of him really only hanging out with Tommy and Carol; everyone else was…ancillary? Incidental? Unimportant.
Now he’s got Eddie, Robin, and the kids. He’ll of course make nice with the CC guys but he doesn’t care about them outside of the fact that Eddie cares about them, ya know? So he doesn’t feel the need to intrude when they hang out or go out of his way to get to know them. He was excited to hang out with them officially at the beginning of the fic because it was a big deal to Eddie, and Steve recognized the importance of it as a milestone marker in their relationship. But I see Steve as an extroverted introvert — he’s good in/thrives off of social situations where he feels confident (house parties, when he’s surrounded by his friends/people he knows well, etc.), and prefers to be in the background in social situations where he’s unsure/in unfamiliar territory (all the crashing and burning at scoops, and obvs a loud dive bar with his boyfriend’s vaguely hostile friends).
The CC guys, due to their own shit, interpret Steve’s attitude in the worst way possible, which they don’t want for their friend, and aren’t above feeling some schadenfreude when Eddie dumps Steve. They’re also still in high school or just graduated and, in my headcanon, have never had SOs, so the pain of a breakup doesn’t necessarily register with them all the way so they figure Eddie will get over it quickly now that he’s back to his senses in their minds.
All that to say, yes, very big ooooff! To both the CC boys and me bc that was way too much writing there, sorry about that!!!
are you still writing the sad steddie thing? with eddie and steve and eddie breaks up with him after their bad date?
I am! I’m just a verrrrryyy slow writer. I feel like if I ever reblogged one of those posts that’s like “come in my inbox and tell me what my fandom trademark is,” all the answers would be “you are the slowest writer in existence.” Which I wish I could change, but also, what’re ya gonna do? 🤷🏼♀️
I’m so fascinated by people who are compelled to write frequently. Like if they go a day or more without writing, they feel bereft. I do wish I was like that! Alas.
My problem is (and I’m using this ask to opine about it (sorry embermdk 😬) bc if anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear them, or even if someone could offer some solidarity bc I do feel very singular in this even though I know I’m not at all) - my problem is that not only does sitting down to write take forever, but once I’m actually doing it, that takes forever too.
If the words aren’t flowing, I get frustrated and give up easily, but if they are flowing, it can still take me up to 3 hours or so to knock out 2000 words. That’s not a bad pace, but it’s still 3 hours out of my day, and even when I have that kind of time (I usually have that kind of time), my brain panics at having “wasted” it and missing out on…idk what. I work and that’s about all I do, but for some reason my adhd brain interprets some activities, including writing, as “stealing” my free time. Whereas watching YouTube videos or playing games on my phone or other passive things like that are not interpreted the same. It’s very frustrating!!!
Anyway, do y’all get like this? How do you get through it?
any plans to return to your weekend in chicago verse?
I mean, yes?? Technically?? Like I think about this fic constantly. But god. I am clearly so bad at finishing shit.
I saw your Joyce and Steve’s dad head cannon so of course I had to re read the one about Joyce not liking Steve, which then led to the sad steddie scenario. I’m over here wallowing about fictional boys and I thank you for that
I love wallowing hours 💜
hey!! just wanted to say that i love your writting!! i come back to tumblr every couple months (when the stranger things hyperfix hits again) and re read everything you wrote, i discovered you throught the "sad steddie scenario" and i fell in love cause that thing where people are constantly apologing in your behalf is something i personally experienced, so it resonated with me a lot!! this isnt to pressure a new part or anything, just to genuinely share my love for your writting!! thank you for sharing your creations with all of us :]!!
This is so, so lovely, thank you! I’m so glad (and sorry!) that it resonates for you 💜
