hey wassup hello ft motorcycles
so, if anyone actually reads this, hello. quick intro, my names Jake obviously, im 21 and will hopefully add a new post every day for as long as i can. this probably wont work so ill aim for maybe 4 a week.
this was supposed to be uploaded yesterday but i went and got drunk, totally forgot about it. good start right? anyways, here goes..
Its a Saturday morning, 20 degrees and sunny, I get a message from my neighbour asking to go for the motorbike ride that we’ve been meaning to do for a while. To be completely honest, I was ready to say no, couldn’t really be bothered, but it was a beautiful day and I say no too much. So, I grabbed my phone and invited a few other friends. They were busy, so my neighbour and I decided on a spot, geared up and jumped on our bikes.
After a quick stop at the servo for some go go juice, we hit the highway. Both quickly realising it was awfully windy, a steady 95km/h was the pace. My little 400 Steed struggled a bit (okay, a lot) up the hills with the wind in our face, but after a few more k’s it flattened out and we were back to cruising - blue sky and the sun shining.
40km or so later, we reached the entrance to mount Macedon. The sky changed to a light grey and we both decided the temperature had surely dropped a tad. Wearing only a tee under my jacket, I definitely regretted not throwing a jumper in my bag. Moss and leaves covered the wet roads that winded through the trees as we climbed, heading up to a memorial cross and lookout a little up the mountain.
The temperature kept dropping, the sky was getting darker and a thick fog was forming. We could hardly see and were forced to slow to a crawl of 40km/h on these roads that are usually comfortable to sit at around 70. We travelled only a little further before pulling off the road and deciding it was far too cold to go on.
Shivering, I took my numb hands out of my gloves, grabbed my camera and very quickly took a few snaps. We had a stretch, laughed at how unprepared we were for this little journey and got back on the bikes.
There was a cafe on the way down to stop at where some nice, warm coffee was served. They went down a treat! On par with hot chocolate, there’s really nothing better to warm the insides in temperatures of about 8 degrees.
The ride home was great. With the roads descending and the wind behind us the whole way, I had no trouble sitting at the speed limit this time. We got back, complained about a few bad drivers we encountered, shook hands, decided this needs to happen more often and headed inside. It was a day well spent and has really got me keen to start the mods on my bike, but more on that another day.
