I miss larping so here’s a Steig in what appears to be Texas.
What makes dogs man’s best friend? Is it the rapt attention they lavish on us? Or how they seem so in tune with our emotions and habits that we wonder if they know us better than we know ourselves? William Steig has certainly asked these questions; dogs are recurring characters in his artwork and stories. These original drawings are just a few examples of how poignantly Steig illustrates this eternal friendship. Pen and ink works like these are a part of a collection of over 2,500 materials gifted recently by the artist’s widow Jeanne Steig. The collection was highlighted in the 2014 exhibition *As the Ink Flows.* library.upenn.edu/exhibits/steig.html #dogdaysoflibraries #librarychallenge #dogstagram #kislakcenter #pennlibraries #artoftheday #penandink #williamsteig #steig #drawing #exhibition #specialcollections
