I adore The Fosters. I absolutely adore it. It feels more realistic. It also houses one of my newest OTPs, Stef/Lena. Modern Family is cool for its gay, but it's not realistic feeling because Mitchell and Cam and all the lesbians and gays they've portrayed are so stereotypical its not even funny and I find that irritating.

For some reason, I was rewatching Stefan and Elena's first kiss in 1x02 and the song choice (Gravity by Sarah Barielles) has always baffled me. Especially the line that plays as they kiss

"You're keeping me down"

And to me, what was first such a jarring song choice now makes total sense. Because I think it was foreshadowing how their relationship would fall apart. Because he did keep her down. Especially these two lines

"You loved me 'cause I'm fragile when I thought that I was strong

But you touched me for a little while and now my fragile strength is gone"

I don't know. Maybe it was all intentional and they chose songs about self harm and relationships falling apart for first kiss and first sex scenes for a reason.
