Would you hypothetically have any opinions on Hunter Long Legs shipping?
I have forty or so plotted oneshots, does that count?
Silly answer, obviously, but more seriously, I like headcanoning and writing them with a level of sapience canon doesn't grant them. I think it's a fun turn for Hunter, and I like the dynamic of them learning their new body and abilities, and also yes finding love - whether as character growth, humor, or angst, I play it for all of the above.
I think it's less interesting when HLL is as they are in canon: mindless and devouring. But I do think it's doable, and there's a wide spectrum between mindless hunger and the way I usually portray them that's fun to play in, as I have at times.
Overall, though, I think there's definitely something to be said for the idea, and I think it could be a lot of fun.
obv you ship some pretty out-there shit. but what are ur opinions on the more “normie” rw ships? stuff like artihunter, sunstone, fishstick? i wanna know your interpretations on them :D
Love em all! Admittedly, funny fact, artihunter was a ship I wasn't as big on as others. I've since come around to it, but still it's not by any means one of my favorites.
But I think they're fun when they're weird feral cats who hunt together and don't know how else to socialize. I think they're fun and cute and I do have some stuff cooking for them.
For sunstone - I just talked about them a little but I love them a lot. I think they have a lot of wholesome potential, I think they care about each other a lot. I think they're a fair bit tragic in canon, I think they have a lot of respect for each other even though Pebbles totally puts Suns on a pedestal.
And fishstick... Y'all I have some weird fluffy gore for them sitting in my drafts but I think they're the fluffiest pair of these three! I think Riv is hyper and Speary is not. I think they're both deeply weird especially to their own kind. I think they'd snuggle in shelters and Riv would love art. I think they should boop noses. So cute...
Trick or treat! Can you tell us what you think about seven red sun's, and their relationships to other characters like pebbles and speermaster?
Yes! I do think a lot about them, and I'll start with my hot take... Below the cut. I yapped again.
I've seen a lot of people characterize them as uncaring of Spearmaster, and I do think they have canon ground in Suns' conversations with NSH, where they admit to being initially repulsed by Spearmaster and claim they only really care about them now, when they're in danger.
...A bit of a reductive paraphrase, I admit, but I think it conveys my point.
However, I think Suns is a huge lying liar about that. I think they cared about Spearmaster with the fire of a thousand more suns than their name and when they say they don't they're lying their ass off. To me, their actions speak much louder than their words, misguided though those actions may or may not be. They specially designed Spearmaster to carry the pearl safely, to be able to protect themselves with their spears (quite effectively), to be more efficient, and cobbled together an ENTIRE LANGUAGE from something expressly not meant for such a use.
The Yellow Dynasty sign language spoken of in game would not have adapted 1-1 to the two of them, but Suns still states they used it and implies they talked. Suns would've had to adapt it, teach it to Spearmaster, work at it. Moreover, Suns is the only Iterator to do that. The only to even try, past an absent comment by Pebbles to Arti, to find a way to communicate with a Slugcat - with their messenger - as equals.
Those are not the actions of someone who does not care, not by a mile, to say nothing of how they act during the campaign itself. I think Suns wasn't lying to Sig, I think they believed they didn't care, and only realized it when they sent Spearmaster into danger, because I also think Suns is just... Not a liar to others. I just don't. I don't think they'd be good at that.
I admit my thoughts where it comes to Suns and Pebbles and Suns and Sig are less interesting. I ship both ships, quite a bit at that, I think trafficlight has old married couple energy, I think Suns was earnestly trying to help with Pebbles and didn't realize how reckless he could be, or how blindly he'd lean on them when they just, y'know, respected him as a person and approved of his ideas, an uncommon combination for him. They made mistakes but I think they were trying and they'll carry that regret with them. I think they'd try to make up for it had they the chance, for all that they bungled it badly. I think they're bad with words and intent. I think they care, even so.
Personally I'm also just not a fan of evil/manipulative Suns, at least, I won't really write it myself. More power to the people who go for it, don't get me wrong, I just think they're an accidentally intimidating wet cat autism creature put in a glass box and expected to perform and that's how I personally like to portray them.
Admittedly, in general, I don't actually villainize... Any of the rw characters, save perhaps for Benefactors, and even then only some of them. I think they are all good people or annoying little shits or both doing their best and often failing badly at it in the most hopeful tragedy of all time. So if anybody's curious what I think of evil Suns, evil Saint, evil Inno, evil Moon, evil Arti, evil Scavs, etc... I enjoy that stuff but for my own interpretations and works I'm rarely, if ever, interested.
Headcanon trick or treat! Do you have any thoughts about Saint?
Oh BOY anon you've hit a jackpot. I have SO MANY thoughts about Saint holy shit. This is going under a cut because I'm not going to shut up for a while, Saint my beloved.
So! Saint! It's Saint time. Personally I think my most important thought on Saint is that they're deeply, deeply caring. They love everyone deeply regardless of who they are or what they've done. It is, in my view, that love that drives them in their mission. They intend to ascend everyone, every living thing, and they will do so regardless of the cost to themselves because they do it out of love. Regardless of species, what type of love (or types) they feel, as I tend to headcanon they blur together romantic/platonic love a lot (as does Invenot), they feel it *a lot*.
I personally also link together Saint, Sliver, and Invenot. I tend to think that Saint is the triple affirmative, Invenot their inverse, and Sliver brought both of their presences about - Ascending herself in the process. As such, I think of Invenot and Saint as counterparts, and also good friends! They're opposite forces, but to me Enot is just chilling while Saint is doing all they can, because they're not a jerk and don't want to interfere. Enot is the cycle, Saint is the triple affirmative. I'll elaborate more on my Sliver thoughts at some point, but to me she's the balance between them in terms of personality.
Saint, as I see them, is dedicated, eerily calm, and unwavering. They ARE the Triple Affirmative, on some level, in my eyes, and with this comes a certain otherworldliness that others can perceive. They are not of the same world, the same stuff as everyone else. They are also endlessly caring, compassionate, kind as I see them - an all loving hero, by nature incompatible with hatred.
However, Saint in my eyes is NOT passive at all. They are weak but they are trying, calm but dedicated and unwavering. May the cycle help you if you stand between them and their goal, they'll never stop - but also, they'd never hurt a fly.
As a wrapup on the rambling... For me, in my eyes, Saint is a Bodshattiva, intentionally delaying their Ascension in order to Ascend others, refusing to stop until the world is all Ascended - an impossible task but one they do not and will never flinch from. I don't know how popular of an interpretation it is, most of the lore stuff and theory stuff I read and watched especially before really getting into Tumblr fandom barely considered the possibility, but personally I couldn't see them any other way.
I lied when I said wrapup one final note and that's some ships! My favorite Saint ships...
For the record, I'll be using these tags for Watcher-related posting:
#rw watcher: the slugcat themselves.
#rw nightcat: for discussion of Nightcat pre- or non-Watcher. It's probably not a common tag, but I consider Nightcat to be the beta version of Watcher, so it might come up.
#rw watcher dlc: discussing the DLC/gameplay as opposed to the slugcat.
#watcher spoilers and #rw watcher spoilers: exactly what they sound like. I'll be using both.
Won't share the other tags to preserve y'all from spoilers, heh.
I'd highly recommend filtering out #watcher spoilers/#rw watcher spoilers if you're playing. I spoiled myself, but I know that wasn't my smartest moment, lol. I'll also be putting watcher DLC spoilers below cuts on this blog to keep it safe! At least, outside reblogs and asks...
Trick or Treat! What do you think about Fishsticks? (Rivulet x Spearmaster?)
Hello hello!
I love fishsticks! Or fishstick, I'm, uh, really not sure which tag people use for them. I ship basically anything in rainworld so it'd probably be hard to find one I don't love, lol.
I think it's weird little creature for weird little creature at its core. Spearmaster is a weird little beast made by Seven Red Suns, and I tend to think of Rivulet as an equally weird little beast made by nature - involved in the world of Iterators by choice rather than by birth. Both of them are happily part of that world, but from very different circumstances, yet both strange to their own kind. I think they've got an interesting mix of similarities and differences that'd really bring them together.
I also tend to think of Rivulet as very high-energy and excitable, and Spearmaster as also a happy little guy but one who's methodical and doesn't emote a lot. Rivulet would bring some energy to Spearmaster and help them come out of their shell, and Spearmaster would provide Rivulet with a voice of calm and reason in turn. I also think Riv would LOVE artwork and signing! So I think they've got lots to offer one another.
Also very far cross-timeline ships are fun, with how different their circumstances are, and their very different experiences with the same characters and locations. Also it's fun to think about them both trying to help Moon, in the end.
Trick or treat! If you have any head cannons of what purpose memory crypts could possibly serve then spill the beans!
Hi!!
I admit, this isn't something I've thought a whole lot about. I don't think it's necessarily graves... Some pearl dialogue from Pebbles makes me think it's memory qualia! Maybe tombs as well, but I think mostly memories. Literally storing their memories, usually after death or Ascension. The Miros Birds would then be there to protect those memories, rather than bodies...
Idk tbh. But I think it's a fun way to think about them.
