So... how do you think electricity is produce?
Well, it’s a common idea that electricity came from generators. There are different kinds of generators like diesel and gas but Power Plant uses bigger generators and consumes larger amount of fuel. Example of this is Nuclear Power plant, Coal-Fired Power Plant and Diesel-Fired Power Plant. There are also Power Plant that uses natural energy to produce electricity like Hydro-electric Power Plant and Geo Thermal Power Plant. They produce very large amount of electricity that they can supply a whole country with it, but they don’t just distribute the electricity directly form the power plant. Electricity are processed in electrical companies and lower their power, they uses large scale transformers to reduce the voltage and amperes of electricity to make it safe to use.
From Utility Poles to your home, Electric Companies ensure that electricity is safe to use and they regulate the volts for the appliances to properly work. In the Philippines the normal range of voltage use in our houses is 220v but in other countries they use different range of volts. When using the Appliances in your house you don’t usually get bothered by the voltage of the appliances before using it, you sometimes just plug it and turn it on. But what if you got new appliances from abroad? And you didn’t even bother to look at its voltage. You know what will happen, right?
Using higher voltage on appliances with lower capacity can cause the devices inside the appliances to short circuit and cause accidents. It’s very important to always check voltage before using any appliances. And when you’re already sure about the voltage you must use the proper equipment to plug in your appliances, to do this you must use a Step-down Transformer.
