29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

this paragraph from silk and steel:

He glides his fingers over the soft skin again, devastated by its tenderness. For all Alex’s coarse edges and crass tactics, he’s inexplicably silky smooth, too. Liquid chocolate spilling out of a hard candy. Expensive satin woven with barbed-wire. A string of reckless adorations whispered in the stillness, punctuated with sharp teeth.

this sentence from soft, expensive things:

Dean Winchester likes soft, expensive things, and the cost of Castiel’s hands on his hips makes Heaven quake for the fifth year in a row.

When they used to fight like this, they’d slip off to a corner and gnash their teeth and grit insults into each other’s lips while trying to fuck efficiently enough that no one would catch them, and then they’d be cured until the next spat, but that’s not an option now. Jake’s looking at him like he hopes Bradley chokes in the air and burns in, smothered in his own stubborn will as he falls from his perch.

so i guess the moral of the story is that i like the thesis statements because they're usually how i get my titles :) and i'm an award-winning essayist but who cares about that

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

i think honestly the biggest surprises for me this year were 1. that i could write (and finish!) so much? all of my other short stories are snappy and quick, max 8k apiece, but i really enjoyed writing (and planning) some bigger units this year <3 and 2. that i could actually form actual friends from, like, fanfiction alone? i have always kind of had fics be the thing that seals the deal on a friendship, not the thing that starts one, so to have made so many absolutely darling friends in the past six months alone just because of some goofy little gay internet stories is so cool to me. like some of these people know my home address and sleep schedule. we're bonded for life <3
