Stephanie & Nathan Part 2.
SURPRISE! I love you Steph cos you deserved this for being a great friend and being there for me! ||Part One [x]
It was the day before we were leaving to his mum’s house and I was a nervous wreck. Our date had gone wonderfully, and so had the other three we’d had over the week.
“What if she doesn’t like me? Or what if she thinks I’m a bad influence? What if it’s too soon?” Nath had been spending the night at our place the past week and today he was being questioned while he helped me pack.
“You’re going to be fine. If I like you so will she, okay?” I nodded and he embraced me. He tightened the hug and picked me up and spun me around. I laughed as he put me down. “Now that’s what I like to see. Smile princess.” He kissed my forehead and look into my eyes as a reassurance that his family would like me. “Let’s go out to dinner tonight? Just one last date before we leave?” I nodded and he smiled. “I’ll pick you up in an hour or so?”
“Yeah. I have to finish packing.” I looked at my suitcase which was barely starting to get filled. Within the last half hour before he picked me up, I went with a purple dress that I hadn’t worn yet. [x] I quickly got ready and tried to finish packing at the same time. When I finally heard the door open my nerves had calmed and I was feeling much more relaxed.
“Hey baby.” He said as his lips parted into a smile. He looked rather dashing in a blue button up, black slacks and bow tie. His fringe was spiked up, and his green/blue eyes were sparkling. I couldn’t help but smile at his excitement. I put my arms around his neck and he pulled me close to him. “You look beautiful, Steph.” He kissed my cheek and pulled me at arm’s length. He looked me up and down and his lips mouthed the word ‘wow’. I blushed and hid my face in my hair. “Don’t hide your beautiful smile, princess.” He cupped my chin lightly and his eyes met mine. He licked his lips as his face moved towards mine. I once again wrapped my arms around his neck and he kissed me soft and sweetly. He pulled away and looked at his watch. “We should get going before they take our reservations.” He smiled.
“Reservations? What? Where are we going Nath?” He raised an eyebrow and led me by the hand to the door, where he grabbed my jacket and purse. We got into a cab in silence and no matter how many times I asked him, he kept his mouth shut. We turned a corner and Nathan covered my eyes. He wouldn’t let me see where we were going. I tried squirming around but he didn’t let go. After a couple more minutes we finally arrived. Somehow Nathan managed to pay the cab driver without letting go of me. HE walked me out, still covering my eyes. I felt the warmth of the inside of the place we were in, and I could heard the chatter all around me. We arrived at a table and he pulled out a seat.
“Now please, Steph, promise me you will keep your eyes closed until I say so, otherwise I won’t let go.” I nodded eagerly and he let go. I kept my promise and I heard him shuffle to the other side of the table. “Okay, now.” I opened my eyes and across from me was Jess, his sister and his mum. My mouthed kind of dropped and the anxiety returned. I quickly shifted my gaze to Nath.
“Um, hi.” I said quietly.
“Hello Stephanie.” I heard his mum say. “We’ve heard so much about you this past week, and you’re so much more beautiful in person. You really make him happy.” I smiled as Nathan blushed in embarrassment.
“Yeah, he won’t shut up about you. I can see why.” Jess winked at me.
“I know I promised I would take you to see them, but they surprised me here this morning. I still wanted you to meet them, but I knew that if I told you, you would not have accepted my offer. I’m sorry Steph.”
“It’s okay love. I smiled.” I looked to his mum and she gave me a reassuring smile. We spent the rest of the night getting to know each other, and Nath was flushed with embarrassment at the stories his mum had to tell. The anxiety and nerves were far gone and I had gained the acceptance of his family. Throughout dinner, Nathan never let go of my hand. He took every second he could to show some sort of affection towards me. When we were leaving Jess and I were kind of on the side while Nath and his mum talked about some neighbor back home.
“He’s falling for you. I’m glad you make him happy. I haven’t seen him smile like this in a while.” I turned to Jess and then to Nath. His smile was radiant and wholeheartedly.
“He makes me happy too.” I managed to say. I caught Nath’s eye and he smiled at me. Looking into his eyes I kind of forgot where we were. I forgot about the people all around us. At that moment I realized that whether I wanted or not, I was falling for Nathan too.
