Events that went down in History during the Reing of Viserys I Targaryen 9/8

War for the Stepstones

In 111 AC. LORD CORLYS VELARYON and PRINCE DAEMON TARGARYEN, self-proclaimed PRINCE OF DRAGONSTONE, called his bannermen, against the wishes of the CROWN, initiating a war against the TRIARCHY for control of the sea passage of the STEPSTONES, after months of assaults on westerosi ships.

To the call of the "PRINCE OF DRAGONSTONE" responded the HOUSES STAUNTON of ROOK REST, CELTIGAR of CLAW ISLE, BAR EMMON of SHARP POINT and HOUSE SUNGLASS of SWEETPORT SOUND, all houses of the BLACKWATER BAY. And also counting with PRINCE DAEMON TARGARYEN rider of the dragon CARAXES and SER LAENOR VELARYON rider of SEASMOKE.

After 3 years of intense battles, the VELARYON were on the verge of defeat, with their days numbered, they could only rely on a risky plan, to get the pirates out of the caves, kill their leaders and disperse the remaining forces of the TRIARCHY.

It was then that KING VISERYS I TARGARYEN sent a missive to his brother PRINCE DAEMON TARGARYEN informing him of a fleet sent by the CROWN to finally put an end to the conflict. In any case, PRINCE DAEMON TARGARYEN went into action, offering himself as bait to get most of the pirate forces to expose themselves and to be eliminated by the VELARYON army, their ALLIES and SEASMOKE, sealing their victory, at least for now…

So in the spirit of Christmas and the New Year’s, I decided to come back with a series that I love a lot. I have been thinking how I was gonna do this. Because Westeros is far more of a contained kind of thing than the rest of the world of a song of ice and fire, but I decided to separate Essos into three books, then I’ll do the rest of the continents one by one I guess but yeah you’ll have a lot of this serious next year. So those who like it you’re in luck for those who didn’t care well don’t know why you’re here.

Fire + Ice : What if Rhaenyra fought by Daemon's side in the Stepstones?

After he failed to bring Dorne to heel, why do you think Aegon didn’t try to conquer the Stepstones? Surely he recognized that holding those islands will give him virtual control over the narrow sea. Or did he think that trying to take those islands would make the Dornish feel threatened and cause another war?

I would say a lack of naval capacity (after all, to put down a rebellion on the Sisters, Torrhen Stark needed to get a fleet from Braavos) and difficulty in holding the islands. Daemon the Rogue Prince, with a flush treasury and plenty of dragon power, had difficulty with the task.

Just some thoughts upon rewatching House of the Dragon, 1x3 "Second of His Name," specifically the scene in the Stepstones.

During the war council, the camera pans around to show that everyone (even Laenor and Corlys) are filthy but Vaemond is practically pristine in contrast which implies that he hasn't really been doing any fighting.

Shout out to the singular Asian dude in the war council.

You can see Daemon's new burn scars on his neck when he takes off his helmet which is a neat detail even if they don't belabor it.

Daemon's reaction to Viserys' message seems out of pocket, but if my brother ignored the problem and me as I fixed the problem for 3 years then decided to help (and not even on his own, Alicent convinced him) I'd probably beat someone too.

I did not realize that the idea to use someone as bait to draw the Triarchy out of the caves was Laenor's idea. Now I'm even more bitter that we didn't get to see more of the war in the Stepstones.

When the Crabfeeder sends his men out to chase Daemon, they always look up at the sky as they exit the cave to make sure there's no dragon.

Daemon snapping the shafts of the arrows off rather than just pulling the fuckers out which is a lot more practical.

I am still not over the detailing on the armor. It is phenomenal.
