My boy Sterad ^^ Probably the best he's ever looked! :D Also a rare time where he's actually smiled XD
Sterad will pretty much never let somebody catch him listening to music but his collection sounds much like this. If he's in his cabin though then he'll usually have the doors open with his music playing while he works outside.
Sterad’s throat was heavily damaged by caustic burns caused by Pestilan Gas, an experimental chemical weapon that was tested while he was out on a deployment. The weapon was found to be highly successful but a mishap on the ground left Sterad’s gas mask damaged and him exposed to the chemical. Fortunately he was aware of the danger and had a backup mask which allowed him to hold his breath and swap them out to prevent the gas from reaching his lungs.
Pestilan gas has since been relegated to an extermination option only and is very rarely ever seen in use due to the potential danger of friendly fire.
The chemical burns in Sterad’s throat don’t just alter his voice. They also make eating / drinking fairly uncomfortable and feels like a constant case of strep throat.
There is a medicine he is prescribed by galra doctors that coats his throat and helps lubricate it some to reduce the discomfort but only to a certain point.
Second Lieutenant Sterad Dreius. Tracker. Instructor. Spymaster.
I'm all kinds of curious about Sterad, now, thanks to those posts. Tell us more about him? What's he like in love, what are his hobbies, his favorite prey to hunt, what he thinks about Lotor... which Commander he'd love to take on in a cage fight!
“I’m not.”
(He’s not really the loving type. He may at some point meet the right person but he’s generally fairly emotionally distant. He’d be the ‘loves you from a distance’ kind of guy who doesn’t really SAY he loves you but would show it instead when the moment allows.)
“I read and watch arena fights.”
(He also watches a ton of wood working videos. If he ever retires then he’d like to try to be a carpenter.)
“Traitors.”
(Yup.)
“The Emperor raised a pussy.”
(:U)
“If you think I’d cage fight anybody then you must not know me very well. I take guaranteed wins, not fair fights.”
(Any commander he could stab a few times beforehand.)
I think I saw that Sterad likes telling stories? Does he have any he can share with us?
“I have plenty.”
Rarely will Sterad ever tell a story about his own exploits, however. He tells stories of who he considers to be the unsung heroes of the Empire. Records of his own exploits exist, written down and heavily encrypted by him for whenever they may be declassified.
“You've probably never heard of Chief Medical Officer Senkor. He’s an expert on bionics, most of his stuff is still experimental. It’s some strange stuff too.”
“A couple hundred years ago I was in transit on his vessel. Killing some time while my ship was refueling. When he gets this emergency call from the 6th fleet. A visit to Senkor is usually when some specialist goes and gets their arm blown off or an eye shot out, they bring them in stabilized and let him do his thing to make a replacement.”
“Not quite this time, though. I remember seeing it, I sat in from the observation room. Some NCO had jumped on a grenade or something. Literally blown to pieces. They brought in a head, torso, and a leg, still together and somehow still alive. Senkor was told one thing. ‘Save him.’ Now I’m not one to put stock in an afterlife, but I’m also not above a merciful death. There was basically nothing left to save.”
“It took Senkor days just to stabilize him and salvage what little he could. The damage was just as bad on the inside as it was on the outside. I had to leave by that point, but I’d kept up with him afterwards. It went beyond fitting a new eye or arm. He’d had to develop bionic organs, ones he had only just begun researching.”
“If you’re in service long enough, you’re going to be given your fair share of impossible orders. And you’ll surprise yourself with how you manage to do them anyway. Turned out that this was one of those times. It took at least a year and I heard the 6th’s Fleet Admiral gave quite a few personal grants to Senkor’s R&D department. But he pulled through.”
“Not sure how many times he had to breach his own ethics on that one. But I guess the results speak for themselves. From what I’ve heard, that NCO’s since become an Admiral in the fleet. Just goes to show what a great mind, perseverance, and a whole lot of money can accomplish.”
“If you need a bionic, just make sure to get on Senkor’s waiting list early. Last I heard it’s pretty backed up.”
New voice claim for Sterad
His new voice claim is the Catachan Devils voice from Dawn of War 2. People like to joke his voice is so rough because of all the screaming he does during training.
