Stiles rolls his eyes. "I'm fine. You worry too much, Sourwolf."
The nickname causes Derek to startle. His ears prick forward as he listens for the tell-tale sounds that will let him know whether Stiles is calling him out fondly, but it's like the door to Stiles' emotions has been slammed shut.
Because there's no blip in the fluttering of Stiles' hummingbird heartbeat. There's no spike in excitement, or tartness signaling his annoyance, or even the faint spice of arousal.
"It's my job to worry. I'm the alpha, and you're pack." Derek says, growing increasingly frustrated with his inability to read the human.
Stiles comes over and pats Derek's arm. "I know you are," he smirks. "And a very good one at that."
