carelessness is painted on her in a glow of sweat she’s already built up after too many drinks and the plethora of bodies she’d surrounded herself with . the night had been filled with lights and shots , music too loud in her ears and people too close ( far too close for her own comfort ) --- it was unlike like her to be in the club , and maybe that’s why she hadn’t lasted as long as the others before she’d stumbled toward the karaoke bar on her own , cold and in a daze . words are HEAVY on her tongue , more ready to spill than they’d ever be without the help of the shots she’d already downed . she’s not sure how she’s going to make this look like a coincidence , her sudden appearance at his place of work --- if she thinks about it , she doesn’t want it to look like one , too eager to get answers than come up with some story he’s sure to see through --- and he always does . hands on cold counter - top , she’s dragging herself into a bar - stool and leaning toward the crowd that surrounds him . ‘ cole --- hey , cole . ‘ voice spills from her numb lips in an attempt to get his attention away from the demanding customers of the night , making a complete fool of herself in front of tonight’s crowd --- but she doesn’t care . ‘ we need to , uh --- can we talk ? ‘
