Yet another reason why AoU is a tragic disappointment...
I watched the Captain America: Civil War trailer (omgomg i am not ready) and it looks great, but it made me even more upset about Age of Ultron, because here is Tony talking Steve like, “I was your friend too” and that’s fine. I believe it’s 100% true. I love the ribbing in the first Avengers movie, and it’s likely they were chillin in Avengers Tower bro-ing out or whatever. I buy that. But the problem is, we never got to see it because Age of Ultron didn’t build it. It was boom-smash ACTION, and (deargodwhy) romance and spontaneous secret family! and wtf-visions!
We saw the Avengers working as a team, and them joking around as a group, and there was that brief bit at the end between Tony and Steve (that was so so brief). But when you really think of it, everyone was off in their own space, (except for Natasha, who for some disappointing reason was forcibly shoved up in Hulk’s space or visa versa). It felt more like an Iron Man movie: Tony was doing his Tony thing and the rest of the Avengers were along for the ride.
So now here we are watching a trailer for Civil War, and Tony (very genuinely I feel) tells Steve “I was your friend too” and it should be really emotional and hurty, but my reaction was just, “Bitch please, this is fucking BUCKY BARNES, okay?” because the Avengers script had 0 moments (okay okay, like .12% of a moment) between Tony and Steve. So it’s just like, Tony, I’m sorry, you’re awesome, but get real.
