Happy Birthday ♎️ to Steven Severin, bassist, composer, producer and co-founder of @siouxsieandthebanshees and later The Glove with Robert Smith. The stage name “Severin” is based on the Leopold von Sacher-Masoch character and mentioned in Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs”. Originally he was considering using “Steve Spunker” and initially he was known as Steven Havoc when he co-founded the band in 1976. The Glove is a favorite short lived project which he named both the band and the one studio release titled Blue Sunshine in 1983. This was during a difficult phase for both Robert Smith with The Cure and Steven Severin with Siouxsie and the Banshees. He also composed, co-produced and played bass and keyboards on it. Other notable collaborations are with Lydia Lunch on the split EP titled The Agony Is the Ecstasy and with Marc Almond on the song “Torment” from the Album Torment and Toreros for Marc and the Mambas. He has been a major force in post-punk music… 🖤⚡️⚔️
